I did. I enjoyed 2 shotting people on my 29 cleric with the other players having zero chance to react.

It's really skillfull to kill someone before they can react and then have enough hp/heals to solo entire teams of noncapped characters.

This is why I do not play this character anymore. Solo owning entire warfronts gets boring, even the xp capped characters suck and are zero challenge.

At 50/r40 there is much more challenge than the 9's.

So what about r1-r30's? Doesn't that feel like the same thing to an r40?

    That's a lot of skill.

Then there are the xp capped warriors. That is hilariously broken.
Two issues here, XP locking and Twinks. One necessarily led to the other. By itself there is nothing wrong with XP locking and there may be many reasons to lock in PvE. If you allow locking in PvE you have to also allow it in PvP, otherwise any locked PvE player who plays PvP will have his lock broken. The unintended consequence of PvP locks was the creation of Twinks. The classic definition of a Twink is someone with gear that cannot be gotten by a normal player in that bracket—Gear that makes him OP to anyone in that bracket.

For the record, I do not think that locked players should have access to gear that other players in that bracket do not also have access to. I think that Trion believes that too and is trying to fix those issues.

However, just because someone has gear and you don’t, doesn’t make him a Twink. I have read over and over, “fill all your gear slots with the gear appropriate for your level.” If you do that you are not a Twink you are just well geared.

Locked xp in low-level WF's has scared more newcomers to the RIFT PvP scene than the amount of players it pleased. When leveling alts I used to run dungeons and queue for PvP in between. Now I only run dungeons because there is almost always a max level of that bracket geared to the max that it becomes a gearing race. This entirely ruins the point of PvP leveling, especially for newcomers, and if Trion wants their PvP to succeed, they need to do something about twinks.

You may be right! That is the exact same reason many do not like playing and will not play post 50 PvP. There are some real problems with the early Twinks and some of the OP gear they got. These guys seem to be grandfathered into the system. But in reality the new “Twinks” you should be seeing don’t have access to that early stuff and it should be relatively easy to properly gear your player to compete quite well in any sub 50 bracket.

What warfront grouping are you in? I am interested in stomping scrubs like this into the ground.

I posted screenshots from random wf's on my lowbies. I showed that in the 20's bracket, 30's and 40's there are people with empty gear slots, no sigils or essences.

I also showed that many of these people had outdated gear to the extreme.

Just as an example, one 40 something character was wearing level 12 crap.

Folks don't want to work on their characters, to have even basic gear..so they get eaten alive in the wf's.

    Then it's "to the forums!!"

I think Trion has a better grasp of what is happening, based on their numbers, than any of us can have through anecdotal evidence. Seeing as their response has been (and I'm paraphrasing here) "you guys are blowing this way out of proportion" I think the mass exodus from low level PvP is a bit over stated.

I also seriously doubt that there are many new players leveling solely through PvP. Not to say that there aren't any at all, but I'd say that they make up a very very small percentage of the player base.

Anyone new to the game is much more likely to level mostly through PvE, with maybe some PvP thrown in to mix things up, just to see what the game is about and explore the game world. Not to mention that you will level so much faster through PvE and, at the same time, be able to accrue coin and level up skills.

For the most part, it's not until people run their first or second toon through the game that people start to turn to PvP as a leveling tool.

Grandfathered items should be the least of your concern. Sure, it's a little broken in the early PVP stages, but they're hardly what's causing the "problem with twinking." If this was a game breaking issue, Trion would have done something about it by now.

The problem is bad, lazy, terrible players that can't figure out what it means to be appropriately geared (see Misun's post) and learn how the effectively compete against good players. Inspect anyone in your warfront, I guarantee you will find startling evidence of this bad play. Watch how they charge headfirst 1v4 and drop in milliseconds. This isn't the fault of a twink, or a player's gear, or being out-skilled. It's the bad players, they are the detriment to the team, and I'm willing to bet that a good portion of those "baddies" are those that come crying to forums for nerfs and XP lock removal.

You take XP lock away, you take your <2m queues away. No one can deny that queues were horrible before XP locking. Now, you can level effectively primarily through warfronts (as I did).If you separate brackets, the same thing will happen.

Deal with it or get better.
