Then go pvp. Defend stuff. If they're in pve gear then you're going to be 3 shotting people.

Honestly, Port Scion is fundamentally flawed, it should've been replaced with a team deathmatch ruleset. There's no fixing it now.
I mean, we have Hold The Relic, Domination and Capture The Flag, thats 3 out of the 4 classic multiplayer-pvp rulesets. Scion's varied layout/los points are perfect for Team Deathmatch... Can even have kills that are scored next to fewer friendlies give more points, just to spice things up..

During the escalation weekend I never encountered this horrible tactic, and never did beforehand.
I just did two runs of Port Scion for the daily warfront and saw it both times, with people saying it's been happening a lot - insert long story - and then I found this thread.
This is an incredibly lame turn of events, and has absolutely ruined my favorite warfront. Thanks guys.
I won't be queuing for this warfront anymore until either Trion does something about it or players stop trying to exploit / cheat / whatever you would call this. Since we know a lot of players will never stop doing such things, it's unfortunately up to Trion to figure out a fix. Maybe make the boss invincible until both idols have been destroyed twice? I don't know.
Saying that I will no longer be queuing for this warfront is not some sort of threat - it's a plea to Trion to please do something to safe-guard one of my favorite bits of content in Rift.![]()

I never plan to queue for this instance ever.
^^ This ^^
It takes an agreement between the teams for a zergrush to work.
If I zone into a Scion and someone is spamming "ZERG TEH BOZZZZ!!" I'll counter with, "Okay, you guys do that. I'm going to defend <insert idol / boss here> to slow them down. Who's with me?".
I'll usually get a few peeps to follow me into the hotspot and I actually get quite a bit of PvP in. Often times I'll lure enough people in to really make a difference.
Sure, I might die a bunch of times, but kill to death ratios have never been a concern for me. My goal is to a) get some actual PvP in and b) help my team win, even if that means tripping up the bad guys with my corpse.
Just played the slowest PS ever. My team was ahead 500pts. One guy says if we should go for the boss and everyone is like meh. I think we had 3-4 people running stones and everyone else was just standing around on bridge. I ended up riding around to explore the instance. No idea what the other team was doing. It became so boring I was thinking of leaving but didn't want the deserter debuff.
They could fix the mechanics a bit. Maybe the fluxes, capacitors and idols could have a time when they become vulnerable. Like all of them and bosses are invulnerable, and after 5 min into fight one of them on both factions becomes vulnerable. 5 min more, and the second one comes vulnerable. And after the both are down, then only would the boss become vulnerable.
Ah well, just my two cents.
Which involves two or more people competing against each other.
Which is two or more people competing against each other.
I can't help it if something so clear flies over your head dude.
It is very sad when people forget that PvP insinuates player vs player. PvP=/=video games
Which means two individuals playing a game to compare their skill at one or more objectives.
Last I saw, sports are also considered games.

In this instance PvP DOES = video game.
Why? because thats what we are discussing.
Being the first to max PA is competition, Being the first to complete every artifact set is competition, Being the first to complete ID when it gets released will be competition. For the purposes of discussing Rift and MMO's in general they would not be considered PvP even though the competition is there, the race against other players is there, its still PvE.
I think some people need to expand their definition of PvP.
PvP is not limited to PkP (players killing players). There is far more to PvP than just death matches.
The big difference between PvE and PvP is that you're not competing directly with an AI in PvP. You are directly competing with other players. Be it a death match WF, objective based WF's (yes, even a Scion zergfest) or online poker, it's all PvP.
Yes, there are some PvE aspects in Scion, and you will be fighting an AI at times, but primarily you're opponents will be other players.
Here we go again....
My definition is a purist one yes. PvP is killing players for me, nothing else. I wont expand my definition, you narrow yours?
People want different things, in the absence of a pure death match or an arena the PK-ers want WF's to fill that role, therefore do not want a means of winning which doesnt require killing players.
During a boss zerg match you are primarily competing against AI. You can win by it, THAT is the problem.
