Thread: CC and diminishing returns with 1.2

    Thumbs down CC and diminishing returns with 1.2

    I just felt that i needed to give my input on this.

    I feel that the CC "groups" need to be taken away and each CC type on its own DR. I dont understand how using Lost Soul to stop an enemy on his mount, and then having my Foul Play diminished is supposed to be working as intended.

    There is a game that some of us came from called Dark Age of Camelot. Many of us enjoyed years and years of fun engaging PvP because of the complex and strong CC. It allowed for interesting and strategic gameplay.

    With the new implementation of DR, i feel that the grouping of various stuns/snares into one pool is a poor addition, and takes away a lot from the game.

    Trion PLEASE Reconsider.

    Trion actually thinks they know what they are doing with pvp. It's kinda cute. Like kids playing dress up or putting on mommies make up.

    DAOC had 2 minute long mezzes and as I recall 30 second immunity once your DR kicked in enough. Basically DAOC was a CC mess if you were up against a good group that didn't noob aoe everything.

    The OP was a Midgard player.

    My Midgard Healer was stupidly overpowered, but so was my Smite Cleric at release when I could keep someone stun'd the entire time it took me to kill them.

    CC now requires thought and tactical use.

    I can see Dominators having issues with the changes, but CC was far too dominant in Rift PVP.

    Dominators may need a boost that overrides DR in some fashion, though..since that is their domain. We wil see.

    You must play cleric.

    As a long time DAOC player I can tell you 90% of the people who liked CC in DAOC were the classes that had it. Which is why they started nerfing it and gave determination and warrior AOE shouts and purge. Spending 1/2 to all of a fight completely unable to act while your team gets slaughtered is only fun for the winning team and is much luck based as it is skill based. AOE Mezz>>>Mass purge>>>AOE Stun>>>destroy>>>if in trouble speed of sound and bail with unbreakable speed 5. NOT fun.

    CC should be tactically used. Not spammed and AOE'd to death. Like any other utility or support ability it's all about using it at the right time instead of spamming it like a damage skill.

    DAOC had ~1min-1.5min duration mezes that was mitigated by having resistance up to 50-60% along with realm abilities to reduce their duration or purge abilities. Also other players in your group could cure mezes to take it away. There was also no second CC cast at reduced duration, you were immediatly on a immunity timer of 1min from the expiration of the mez where you would be immune. So with good team play, a mez that lasted over 10sec was rare.

    Yeah, good luck with that. How about some Dimishing Return on heals so that they require thought and tactical use too?

    Try being a well known cleric in any battlegroup? The moment people see my name on the scoreboard, I'm marked and targeted the entire match.

    Try running premade vs. premade as a healer, before running your mouth about heals. Just because your pug is getting stomped by premades, or even pugs that know how to assist, doesn't mean there was anything wrong with healing clerics.

    Argument = people get snared/rooted/stunned so much in warfronts they naturally gain immunity as was appropriate for game play.

    New System = Charge in get hit by something random and your immune to basically every snare/root/stun.

    I was Rift/NB but I foresee moving into MM for aoe dps spamming - Sap on same DR as rift prison LOL they aren't even in combat when sapped, WTF???

    Completely agree. Having DR is great. Putting large clumps of CC (snare/stun/fear,etc) into "groups" for those DR is not.
