No class in Rift comes close to the brokenness of the now Infamous Bright Wizards of WH
Who said Mages weren't OP to begin with?
I have 2 r6 mages in my guild. When we were reading patch notes they just laughed. Particular comment comes to mind: "these people are idiots... I love it!"
I knew it would happen, but damn if I didn't make a mage for first char lol. I'm a healer fan though so Cleric was a must for me.
Every MMO I've been in the 'GIMPS' within months if not a year or two are the FOTM. All the way back to Sadowbane where Warlocks and Templars were called by these names after months of being labeled Gimplocks and Gimplars. Vanilla WoW said Palys suck, can't DPS! I don't see anyone saying that now. Hell even Warlocks were labeled as gimp, PFFFT! Now, Rift mages. I'm telling you guys if everyne says ClassX sucks, roll ClassX because it will be first in line on Buff A Class Day!

In regards to TOR, I sincerely hope not. While I can't talk about the endgame i did play the beta for 2 weeks up to lvl15 on 2 different characters & I was completely blown away. The 1st couple of lvls were a bit slow since I only had 1 or 2 abilities but around lvl10 it got pretty exciting. I mean, I was excited playing the beta for WAR & figured they would work out all the little bugs that it had but the TOR beta truly knocked my socks off. I got the feeling that I had when I played my 1st mmo & found myself unable to leave my desk for those 2 weeks. All I can do is hope because to me, SW:ToR is the last hope for the mmo genre. I sincerely doubt anything will come out with that big of a budget, that well known of a franchise & been in development as long as it has.
mages have one op ability so far as i know, and that's GoS. nerf it, get it over with and lets get on with the pvp.
bioware is known for failure. i mean look at their history, so filled with fail that....they have only hit homeruns.Grab your popcorn for TOR though, that will be a fail story that will live on forever.

We are asking for RvR.
Too early nerf, told them to wait at least 3 month so we can see the real big picture of it, but they just threw some half-assed patches in. So freaking tired of fail devs really.

I sincerely hope that people that work in rift realize their mistake in hiring such a person, boot him and replace him with someone that actually is sane.
Now , many things have been said about WAR and the people that actuallyl made decisions there, and it MIGHT not have been the said persons decisions that compltely beyond any sane reason ruined WAR balance, it might have been some messed boss that simply refused to listen to the dev and just forced him to balance WAR the way it did.
Just IMO this game is extremelly new, and for the MOST part the nerfs/buffs where in the right direction, sure twiking is needed across the board and unessecery buffs/nerfs did make it through , but if future balance goes the warhammer way, i will be very sad to see a game like rift end up liek war.

I think the fixes to some broken skills on the warrior side were REALLY good.
I think buffing some mage factors at the exact same time...REALLY bad.
One side of an equation should be worked at a time. When there is too much being tweaked you run the risk of what IMHO just happened. No net fix. We just shifted the problem.
It's still not the worst problem in the game. But it does make me concerned about what methodology is being applied to their "balance" patches going forward.
Also, I DESPISE calling these "warrior" and "mage" issues. They were very specific skills within very specific souls. And are currently.
IMHO some Pyro skills are problematic now, the AOE DPS spam + the AOE snares = death in a lot of cases for even well played melees.
I was in some black gardens yesterday with ~7 Pyro's on the opposing side (I think 4/5 of them were a premade). After respawning I could stand up on our side and look out over the battlefield and it was just a mass of slowed toons slogging through what looked like a field of fire. No escape.
This morning every warfront I have been in has about 4-5 mages doing about twice the damage as any other class and about 4x the amount of killing blows.
Well, not every warfront, I was in a black garden that had 1 mage on each side. It was a pretty fun game. The two mages still did more damage and had more killing blows, but the fights between wars, rogues, and clerics was pretty fun.
Not properly testing patches and releasing broken content. Now I'm told the guys who balanced WAR is balancing Rift. Everything makes sense now. Trion take a look at WAR's history. It was an amazing game with 500,000 subs on release. Because of terrible balancing, it lost half of its subs within the first year. Now the game is on the brink of death. With all that is said, the balance in WAR is pretty good now since these employees are working for you instead. I guess pyros are the new BW protect. That explains the infinite stuns prepatch and god mode this patch.
