Idea: Bringing the Awe to Awesome World PVP.
So, I replied to a thread earlier and it got my mind churning ( while I was supposed to be outlining and researching different customer demographics... oops. )
There have been a lot of games that have done guild cities and such, and I think one of them that did it the best from hearsay was Shadowbane.
So, applying this, with a mix of some own thought, lineage 2, anarchy online, and other ideas, I came up with this.
Planar Cities (Working title)
There would be up to 7 per server. They would contain all the amenities you would expect from a major city, except that they would be exclusive to the Guild's faction that owns them. They would be unique in that, for 3 (?ish) hours a day, their defenses would be shattered by a rift, first allowing an invasion of NPC's.
After, or even during, that assault, they would be susceptible to attack from the enemy faction, and could be taken.
Each city would have it's own unique "buffer" that would provide a unique buff to a particular stat.
Each city would have all the usual NPC vendors, trainers, ect that are expected
Each city would have a Faction to gain rep with, unlocking unique items/patterns/recipes "The Blade of the Planar City of [ ] "
Each invasion would have similar loot/rewards than the usual invasions, and the reputation rewarded would be similar as well.
The time in which they would be vulnerable would have to be during peak activity on server times.
Logistics / How To
At the time of attack, their would be an announcement in the zone the city was in, the city itself, and all major cities. There would be no "I've opened a portal to here, quick, jump through and overwhelm them". Players would have to group up and make their way there.
During the Invasion portion, people could help (or hinder? undecided.) the controlling guild/faction.
If the city were to fall to the Invasion, it would be constantly in a Rift and could be assaulted and taken at any time, by any faction.
(Not complete. Had to jet to a different class. Let me know what you think so far)
