You have to sort through a lot of "meh" and freaky people too, but it's easier than bars, since you can just choose not reply to people. Tips:
-If you do meet someone, a first date should always be for coffee, since it's a fast and easy out. You can always go somewhere after coffee if it seems to go well.
-Write a detailed and honest profile. A lot of people are vague and/or too cliche'.
-Take clear pics. Nothing is more sketchy than blurry pics or pics with odd angles and/or Zoolander lips.

Something to deal with people who are incapable of grasping certain concepts. So, a large portion of society =)
It wasn't "that" bad, but yeah the main character in a lot of animes ends up being pretty annoying. Overall though I did enjoy .hack//sign conceptually, it had really good music. It was pretty trippy too.

you misunderstand :P i *liked* the anime overall cause of its concept and that i'm a big gamer as well... but that freaking main character rubbed me the wrong way...

Yeah welcome to a tonnnnnn of animes, the main character in .hack//roots was just as bad if not worse. So many people liked Evangelion, but I wanted to take the main character into an alley and throw him in a dumpster after the first episode, I basically hated that anime :P There's too many to list but yeah, good times.
I wish I had a comprehension gun.
