Yep, expect a big ad push starting September, but especially in October and November (once the shiny wears off of Guild Wars 2, and gamers also see what Mists of Pandaria offers/contains/fixes/ruins/etc). IMO December Storm Legion launch.

Well, an internal date that isnt lightly written in pencil.

I assume when they have a solid projection, you'll see "A storm is coming" on your magic box to Ofrah Winfrey land
I'm pretty sure they'll want it:
    a)this year
b)in time to buy for the winter holidays

This isn't true. It's called top of mind. Everyone knows about GM and coke, by the same logic they should stop advertising too. You advertise so when people do choose what to buy Rift pops into their head.

Don't you know nuttin?? Let me 'splain it to you. You see, and I'll give you an example using the fashion industry, there is what we call "haute couture" ("high sewing," "high dressmaking" or "high fashion") and what we call "prêt-à-porter" (ready to wear); obviously both French.

In the world of haute couture, designers do not advertise - everything is word of mouth; if you don't know about it, they more likely than not, it's not for you. Whereas prêt-à-porter is for everyone, even the proletariat... WoW is like prêt-à-porter. Although as an interesting side-note, in regards to prêt-à-porter, Jean Paul Gaultier, one of the world's best designers of haute couture, will sell prêt-à-porter tee-shirts for $75 a pop but I think you get my point. Rift is like haute couture only known to those who truly appreciate the game and it's high standards of quality and fun.

Just because a company, in this case Rift, doesn't always advertise like WoW, SWTOR or GW2 does, doesn't mean it isn't successful. People come to this game via word of mouth from their friends, relatives, etc... I measure a game's success on the following facts:

    1) Does it still hold my attention?
    2) Is it still fun?
    3) Do the Devs still care about us?
    4) Do we still receive patches and updates?
    5) Are bugs fixed in a timely manner?
    6) Can I afford this game?

Blah, blah, blah, you get the point...

Also, I think - imho, we really shouldn't berate GW2. This is because it may be a great game so why not play it? After all, don't we play games to have fun??? I know I do...

I think ppl today, new generation of gamers, seem to think it's either this game (the game their playing is the very best, will destroy all other games and thou shalt have no game before this one...) or no game. Ridiculous! I play games cuz they're fun - period. It can be Rift, GW2, Jade Dynasty, whatever.
