I don't need to stroke my ego. I have a wife for that. I haven't shaken a hand in years. Do people still do that?

I was in the USAF for four years as a tech controller (long haul communications and base communication networks). I was stationed at Buckley AFB, CO as part of the 460th SCS. I was also in Kuwait, in the 386th ECS, for four months.

I insist people do a little thinking before using terms like "Defending our country" or "defending our freedom" . The Iraqis and afghanis didn't attack us. Everyone is proud of service to their country, but be choosy with your words and keep it low key (not aimed at anyone specific).

indeed. its one thing to be in the military . Its another to pull im a in the military i protect your freedom card buy me a beer.

Sooo, lemme get this straight: You came into this thread to tell us it was unnecessary and to stop stroking our egos, and then post just like everyone else? i'm a bit confused. I just saw that a lot of people that post in these forums made a few references to things military, and I was curious. The military was and is a big part of my life and family. Not once yet have I seen anyone in here, soldier, veteran, or otherwise get overzealous about "defending our country" or "defending our freedoms." Insist all you want, people feel the way they do. and aren't going to curtail their language because you "insist" it. I think you should take your own advice and be choosy with your words before titling your posts things like "unnecessary thread is unnecessary...etc..." because it comes of a bit trollish.

As far as the Iraqis and Afghanis, i completely agree.

If this is what he meant, then yeah, I'm 100% in agreement. didn't get that from what he said though.

Though I disagree with you I can understand you. I do believe you are mixing your politics with these guys right to join together and feel some kinship. If we were to follow what you are suggesting we wouldn't have veterans day or Arlington national cemetary where I buried a loved one. If you don't celebrate who you are and what you did then few others will. I'm sorry to see that somewhere along the way someone or some group might have made you feel bad about your service. You might want to seek new friends if that's the case.

    Hugs and kisses

    See underlined.

My apologies as coming off as a troll. I'm still working off the rage of living on a base where everyone that lives there thinks the should have trophies and women tossed at their feet because they are serving. I served with plenty of people that thought every where they went exceptions should be made for them, and they should be treated like royalty.

I always viewed it as the other way around: people in uniform should make exceptions for everyone else, and put up with more than the average guy/girl. Any handshakes and thankyous should be accepted as if they weren't expected, and with a quiet reserve.

Like I said, just trying to shake off some anger. So pretty much this:

indeed. its one thing to be in the military . Its another to pull im a in the military i protect your freedom card buy me a beer.
I could have certainly worded it better .

I feel you're post was rather unnecessary. I really didn't get the vibe anyone here was expecting a thanks.

Also i believe your meshing in too much politics with the topic.

Other than that planning to do airforce after HS.

Its ok hun, alot of people on here care a bout you and are going through or went through the same thing. Being able to accept thank yous is as important as giving them. I thank you, you are a better man than most in this world. If you need to talk just look me up I'm sure alot of the old vets on here are willing to chat as well.

    Hugs and kisses

WOW, thanks for the apology, seriously. And after zaco's input, I kinda thought I might have been too harsh in 'policing' what you said. but i'm glad to see that that's what you meant. My cousin, who's been in for 10 years, tells me all the time that he was glad he had all the advice from me and from our uncles and aunts. From what he's telling me, it's an increasing mentality, the one that you describe. I dealt with it myself, being a military policeman, from soldiers I'd detained, to my fellow MP's who thought they were above the law, even down to two other MP's I had to arrest at one point.

So, I must apologize for misunderstanding what you meant.

    See you in game!

Where I am and what I do, I do not expect anything. I serve to help those over here in this hell whole with me because I want to make sure they get home to those who love them. I have never expected anything or even a thank you. I have had care packages sent to me from wives and mothers of their sons and daughters I have helped save at the Mobil units.

Then there are those we cannot save. I care for all my fellow soldiers as if they were my brothers and sisters. I do not get to see many civilians and when I play online in my down time it is to help forget where I am

. Your first post pissed me off; I took it as more preaching about being military and how we are arrogant *******s. I was wrong I see what you were saying. I sympathize with what you are going thru I am on my third tour over here because to be honest I can't hack it back home. Honestly the slow passé of being in a normal hospital ….. I can't do right now. Allot of soldiers have a tough time with being back. I guess I am saying if you need someone who has been in your shoes give me a yell I am always around...Your braver than I am. I had to come back for another tour to feel normal.

    sorry for wall of text

it has nothing to do with having a hard time back home
Its just annoying when people start telling war stories and pretend like they went on a killing spree in iraq with **** Cheney. Its vets in college that have to go out of their way to bring up the fact that they were in the military to the class. And on top of that it is always some non-combat job who thinks their job is import,. :" DERRRRR with out me you wouldn't get supply's DERRRRR'. The military is full or arrogant jerks and most join for the power

    is just ****ing annoying.

With this many soldiers in this game, I almost expect military discipline when I log on :O

Guild Master: ''WHAT THE **** IS THERE A STAIN ON YOUR UNIFORM, MARI?!''
    Me: ''Uhhhh, uniform?''
Guild Master: ''DON'T **** ME, PRIVATE! GIVE ME TWENTY LEVELS!''

    xD
''No problem cannot be solved by the application of the appropriate amount of SMASHY!''
