As we've said a number of times before, the story of the Warcraft universe is ever evolving and moving forward. We're focussing on the game as it now, working on making it as enjoyable as possible. We do that partly by reading your thoughts and feedback, what you like about WoW and your not-so-favourite things. So please, talk about the features and mechanics you liked specifically in Vanilla, TBC etc. and how you'd like to see them implicated into today's game, but know that we're not planning on opening servers with previous versions of the game.
So nothing new here bar one point which is important.......
That blue post is 2 hours old as I post here.
I think a lot of people may have been hanging on to WoW in the hope that falling subscriptions and the pressure of new games like GW2 (as well as Rift - LOTRO etc) may have "encouraged" Blizzard to change its mind on retro servers......
Well that blue post says it all........no retro servers, no previous WoW versions, no returning to the days of Vanilla, Burning Crusade, and Wrath and that information is bang up to date as of July 2012.
Hence I think there may be another exodus of disenchanted players now knowing there is no official way back now..........
I do think that GW2, Rift and Lord of the Rings may all benefit from this statement
GW2 via its no sub and "hype new game" model, Rift as it does appeal to the technically minded raiding gamer (and this game has some similarity to Burning Crusade) and finally Lord of The Rings may also appeal to both lore/role playing types as well as the no sub model
Just my personal views folks
