Exactly. MMOs are social games. It's not meant to be 100% absorbing with the gameplay alone. MMOs mostly just a framework for social interaction. That's why these games can get away with a lot of mindless repetitiveness. If you are doing it all alone, yes, it can get boring. So don't do the content that way.
so when you are in t1 raids, why don't you do t2 raids or MM? there's plenty of challenge.
MMOs have always been time based, higher difficulty simply provides faster rewards.
as I said, trion simply can not provide solo content for everybody - and don't let us get started how much different the content itself could be. "oh, look, a shadavarian fight for T2 with more or less the same mechanic" - that's only fun the first few times.
not to mention, if you grind PA you're doing it wrong...
But they can provide 2 and 3 man content (which tbh is a soloists dream) in a much better way than chronicles so far. Remember, their idea of entry lvl 2 man content at 50 is actually doable by all 4 callings, solo, naked.so when you are in t1 raids, why don't you do t2 raids or MM? there's plenty of challenge.

There is a lot more that can be done there. Chronicles were never challenging in any other way than maybe one encounter catching you off guard until you learn't the mechanic, it then was a push over.
If you are going to make 2 man content, you do it so it requires 2 men (in that it will be extremely difficult for 1) not so that a mage can strip naked and solo it.
And the point i've been saying all along. Which you missed it seems. Everything in this game has been at a standstill difficulty wise in what has been added. Despite the jump in gear levels, it's still extremely non scaling of the things they actually have added over this year when it comes to pure stats.
And yes, you can run off and do t2 t3 raids. But how much can someone do that, since after all you need 19 other people to tag along and do it aswell. When your not raiding do tell me, where is the fun part?
Skirmish in Lotro is probably the best handled solo experience in a mmo i have played so far. Chronicles seemed like it was heading that direction at first....Then you just roflstomped it all in blues and greens. I even equipped a level 7 gun from the npc in meridian, while wearing gear a fresh 50 would wear just to see how easy it was. And it's been... 6 months since then?
What has changed in the difficulty of the mobs for solo content? 2k extra hp?
big woop, the dps has almost gone up by that much...
"MMOs have always been time based, higher difficulty simply provides faster rewards."
Exactly, and isn't those things ALOT more fun than the "oh i know, let's put this grindy part here and put some rune/craftable Item at the end "
Rift suffers from having a completely unchallenging gameplay... unless you find 19 other players.... and not on a lockout. Casual friendliness doesn't mean you add truckloads of grind. It's more the other way around. Add a bonecrushing solo instance where you can go and REALLY test your limits. Not just another place with mobs that are so weak you wonder why they even give a warning that your trying to do it with less than 2 players.

"casual friendliness" only works so far. let's say trion includes a solo chronicle that requires full raid T1. how many people do you think would do it? what rewards should it offer? how fast should you be able to accumulate that rewards? and most important of all, how would you make it "challenging" for EVERY spec and skill level?
the problem with higher equipment tiers is that not everybody gets there or even wants to be there - kinda like a pyramid, the higher you go the less people you see. which makes a certain level of content not feasible when you can offer a lower level to a wider audience.
I'm not saying rift has enough content for everybody or there are spots where more content would be nice - but discussion is moot anyway since there will ALWAYS be someone who thinks his or her playstyle is neglected by the devs.
EDIT: lotro sirmishes are a fun the first few times, after that they are a worse snoozefest grind than anything else I've seen before. not to mention you don't run it on a "challenging" level when you want to farm them time efficiently. in the end skirmishes another option to do sth (or grind with).

What you do is make 2 and 3 man content and make it more challenging than the lolchronicles. By doing that, but omitting mechanics which require 2 or 3 people such as those people have to stand on different points at the same time (crude example) then you create an optional duo and solo content which isn't by design and therefore doesn't 'have' to be tuned to every calling individually. Small groups are happy, soloists are happy (and can't complain about callings as it isn't designed as such, regardless a true soloer wanting challenges - is a player, not a calling. With tools at their disposal including callings, souls and gear).
LotRO skirmishes, apart from rewards, were great. I had the tools at my disposal to run them on 1000's of different permutations. My personal favorite was petless on solo T3 at +1 lvl, on all classes (or at very least the ones I had at cap)I'm not saying rift has enough content for everybody or there are spots where more content would be nice - but discussion is moot anyway since there will ALWAYS be someone who thinks his or her playstyle is neglected by the devs.
