Before dying, you go into a 'Downed' state in which you have a few special skills (replacing your current skills). These may allow you to recover some health, divert a mob, or defend. (Downed skills depend on class.)

If you dont recover from being downed, then you die and take equipment damage.

At this point, you can do a full rez at any waypoint that you've discovered. There are no corpse runs. Waypoints are the general teleport means of traveling and generally not too far from where you died. (Couple of minutes run max.)

While downed or dead (before you rez at a waypoint), other players can help you recover. People are generally pretty good about doing this, its one of the informal social things the game promotes. However, they may choose NOT to rez you in the middle of a battle -- since there may be too much risk (I've been killed several times trying to raise people in a tight battle). If thats the case youll usually get a rez after the battle has died down a bit.

BTW, even if no one's around right when you die, you may still get a rez. Downed and dead players are shown on the map, and its not uncommon for someone to detour a bit to raise you.
Worth also noting that if you are Downed and manage to kill a monster/player, you get back up.

Past 2 betas/stress-tests I mainly played engineer, warrior, and elementalist (in order). Of the 3 classes, I had to move more on the elementalist ONLY because I was useing daggers(by choice), making the ele a "melee" type class but a bit more squishy due to wearing light (cloth) armor. The warrior was good for takeing hits, still dodging the over animated attacks that are supposed to be dodged, duel weidling axes for quick kills & swaping out to a mace & shield when fightin elites to block/stun them, weapon swaping through out combat between the 2 is how the warrior works (to me). Engineer I found the most mobile as I prefered the rifle, focusing on power/precison (AP/Crit), timeing immobiles, knockbacks, and cycling through bombs/grenades all while keeping my distance, blowing faces off if in close range & jump-shoting away when needed.
Circle strafeing is not required. Its a good alternative in case ur dodge meter is recharging and thats all I personally used it for.

It was clear, and well done. Spirit Ranger was staying out of the red circles of doom, rezzing, using combos and using Dodge very strategically (e.g. only when necessary).

(Wish our event had gone as smoothly, lol. We had at least 30 people there, it scaled up and we had constant waves of incoming mobs, lots of folks down, frozen, and red circles all over the place. It was 15 minutes of chaotic epicness; so much fun!)

That video was a good representative of play.
*My guild was looking (in Rift) for engaging, meaningful additional outdoor endgame that is inclusive, dynamic, community-oriented, scaling, and strategic -- Real outdoor, persistent-world challenges that require thought, strategy, and cooperation.*
Outdoor RvE for both PvE & PvP

Hah yeah couple times I ran it was way rougher. Everytime I managed to join it, the boss didnt sit there, he charged around & stomped ground so killing people constantly. More people kept coming till eventually he died, but damn that was alot of fun.

As a warrior I had to time my dodges to his stomps, took many deaths to figure it out but definatly alsome once u got it. engineer was good with tossing grenades for conditions, neting the boss to keep him from charging & moving around. as mage i changed to staff & basicly had to use water to drop some healing wells for people then dps a bit before he charged away, rez more people, drop heal wells then back to dps.

Was really fun just changing roles on the spot depending on ur weapon/kits/element.

Ha! After playing the BWE2 for so much time, it's actually kinda weird to see combat from BWE1... it's funny how much the little camera-shakes add.

GW2 will only please to GW fans.
Scrubs who think GW2 is a traditionnal mmo are going to last 1-2 months there then come back to Rift ~
A game with no progression at all is dull and people get bored fast.

Is GW2 going to be only PVP or is there going to be PVE as well? The game looks really nice and worth trying but I hate pvp with a passion and prefer to kill world bosses than other players. thanks

Both PVE and PVP. No world PVP.
Game will be fun even for people who dont PVP, only thing is: there wont be any end-game then. But for the €60,- you can play it just like a single-player game
Dont expect pve-raids and stuff like that.
