Is this game at all similar to Everquest 2?

EQ2 is hands down my favorite MMO (I've got 5 level 90's)
I think my favorite part is how easy power leveling is
If you have a max level fighter (bruiser/monk/sk/paladin/zerk/guardian) you can power level a new character to 90 in a day. Go figure the only mmo out there where fighters are the best power levelers?

It sticks to the tank/dps/healer mentality though and its hard to fill a role outside of your classes designation (mainly because people would rather not compete for loot so they wont bring 2 tanks in a group)

If you like playing a tank the game is -awesome- tanks in eq2 are one of the most fun classes to play, they do pretty great DPS and in pvp/solo pve they are fantastically OP.

you can, just have to pay 2 sub fees (unless you do f2p eq2 which really isn't free, just a really limited trial which ends up being more expensive than just subbing).


could always wait till guild wars 2 comes out, it has no monthly sub fee, just a box price. it looks to be excellent and far better than eq2.

i quit eq2 for rift, i dont really like sony all that much. and 2 races of faries just turned my stomach!

GW2 is a microtransaction game and they will bleed you dry in little charges for things you take for granted in normal MMOs.

Personally, Id go EQ2 if the choice is between GW2 and EQ2.

I played EQ2 3+ years ago and it was a solid game with solid story and very good graphics (for its time)

I was burning out on MMORPGs at the time so ende dup quiting and leaving all mmo for a time but thats not really reflective on EQ2 quality!

Fun game, and kinda simular to RIFT in some ways.

There was a thread I caught the subject of the other day but never got around to click and read while I was at work...

The title was something like "now that the wow fans are leaving, can this game become more like eq2".

I really don't know the context of what was said but it had more than 40 posts in it and multiple pages. Searching for anything on these forums is a pain and I can't find it. I've even gone thru and looked at all the posts started since Friday morning and still can't find it.

Anyone at all happen to have a link to it? Thanks in advance if you do.

they are different in many ways and you can play them both at once if oyu want. Of course you may afflicted with which one to play at certain times, eq2 being very fun. However due to some *lets out anger in deep breathing* technical difficulties I have not yet been able to try rift but the game itself is suppose to be terrific....
