Default Am I leveling too quickly?

    Hello all.

I have only just started playing the game and am having a blast. Lot's of stuff to do and learn. I always get side tracked for questing to do a rift or invasion or even the occasional event. Also since I hit level 10 I started doing the random Warfronts and got massive amounts of exp for winning one (effectively an entire level just for one win, the loot baggy was nice though!). After doing 3 or 4 of them I found I had gained around 3 levels (12 to 15 or so) in very little time.

Now I am worried at gaining levels too fast and not being able to enjoy the game, but I'm enjoyingt he game doing what I'm doing. Does that make sense? Currently I'm level 25 and doing Stonefield quests. I'm about half way through the zone I would guess and am thinking I will out level it soon.

Is this normal to level pretty fast at low levels and then taper off closer to 40/50 (yes I've read 48 hours or so for 50-60 solid play, actually looking forward to it)?

there is an option in your menu>settings>somewhereinthere... to lock out your XP so you can enjoy the zones at your own pace and not trivialize them. Just remember to unlock it once in awhile when you do want that delicious XP

    we can't do that anymore.

yes it's normal to level quickly to 50, it's a little bit slower after that, but there sure is lots to do!

It takes longer to level 50-60 than it does 1-50, so don't get too used to it. Trion wants you done with old, unpopulated content and ready to buy Storm Legion long before your first month is up. Then, in SL, it slows down exponentially in order to keep you subscribed for longer.

If it weren't so painfully obvious the intent, it could be considered clever.

Negativity abounds! Yes, with all the things added since the game first launched, it's pretty easy to outlevel the lower zones. As mentioned, there WAS an XP-disabling mechanism, but that has since been replaced with a Mentor mechanism, which allows you to set your level to whatever you desire (as long as it's 5 levels lower than your real level). The Mentor level will not change, even when your real level increases - it's a great thing, and comes in very handy.

For Mentoring: Right-click on your portrait when you are standing still, and click Set Ascended Level. Use the clear option when you want to go back to your real level!

As far as the conspiracy theories - leveling has been pretty quick to 50 for some time, especially with the addition of Instant Adventures. This all happened well before Storm Legion was launched, or even any detail of it was released. Everyone has heard that 'The Game Starts at 50" and it's true, that is where a whole ton of things will open up for you, not even taking SL into consideration. Make sure to enjoy Ember Isle and the Chronicles, as well as the raids/slivers if possible. They were all done very well, and add great information into the lore of the game.

Don't worry too much about what you should be doing or what level you should be at etc....just enjoy the game and do whatever you want, whenever you want....Rift is fabulous!

...and don't pay much attention to the negativity and cynics....they are abound like the other poster said....they come packaged mandatory with every MMO and we just laugh at them...

I've been playing one month as of today and I've not reached 50 yet. I've gone through about a dozen character/calling combinations trying to find the one for me. Leveling speed is totally your call; if you're having fun, you're doing it right.

Take your time and enjoy what Trion's created for us.

If you wind up doing quests that you find too easy because of your level try mentoring down to the actual levels of the mobs. You can do so by right-clicking your character icon in the top-left corner. I spent most of the level 20 zone mentored down due to the fact that i had over-levelled it.

I don't really believe there is such a thing as "leveling too quickly".

To be honest, I was worried from 20-50 when barely any players were around. I thought I had joined a completely dead game, that no zone events would ever succeed, and that basically, I subscribed to an empty party.

Then I hit 48 and made my way to Brevane. Tons of players were around and the game was way more fun.

Outdated content is something that is really hard to enjoy, because there aren't many people to enjoy it with, so you can't do some of the cooler things. I have played enough MMOs to loathe questing. Some people like it, but after leveling as many times as I have, I can't enjoy it at all.

It took 2 days 12 hours played to get 1 to 50. That was exactly as much as I could take of the solitude.

Ok, first let's talk about Warfronts. I know exactly what you mean, I found I was getting a level per warfront as well. What is actually going on is that recently the daily quest to do a particular warfront was removed and replaced with a daily bonus for doing a random warfront. However, this bonus can build up to a max of 7 (nice for weekend-only players!) and we all started with that max of 7. Once you do those 7 you get back 1 bonus a day. However, doing 7 warfronts starting at 12 will quickly rocket you up to almost level 20. So you might be shooting up the initial levels a bit fast. But, do you feel you understand your abilities? That's the key. Instant adventures have even more daily bonuses, doing them and warfronts can get you such a huge chunk of bonus xp that it will shoot you up to about 30 and then level off a bit. So, you may want to moderate those activities and do a batch of quests if you find them interesting. There are certain zones I just don't care to do again and will happily power level past, but others I will stop and do.

Also, you can MENTOR yourself by right-clicking on your portrait and lowering yourself back down in level so you can do content at the intended level and get more credit for it.

Yes. I had nearly all of Shimmersand and Stillmoor quests left undone when I hit 50. Didn't stop me from doing them though, even though I didn't get xp.

You can always go back to zones you did not complate and just mentor down to that zone level to enjoy them and still get the original experience you would have got.

If you enjoy the game as you are playing it nwo, then you are doing it correct :P
leveling up to 50 is fast anyway, nothing you can do about that ;). so just do what you do, enjoy yourself, there is no reason why you shouldnt do quest who are below your level as there is also no reason why you should not skip some quest :P
just do what you do to enjoy the game ;) thats it

I still have 2 zones untouched in terms of questing(Droughtland and Shimmersand), and I leveled up to 50 in the first weeks after release(when leveling was slower then it is now, which should give you a good idea that its normal to be fast now)

as it is now you can Mentor Down to the appropiate level of the zone, if you want to do all the quests in zones below your level ;) so you dont have to miss anything

As mentioned above, Mentoring is a great solution if you feel you're overlevelled for the content you want to enjoy, or you feel your gear is under par

To clarify the 'game begins at 50/60' comments - Rift is essentially 2 different game experiences: levelling and end-game. They are both quite different and some people prefer one over the other. I enjoyed the levelling game as much as the end game parts, with exploration and dungeons and questing and so on. Wish Mentoring had been in the game when my main was levelling up

If you enjoy the levelling game, then have at it and ignore the haters who want to convince you that doing anything other than the fastest possible powerlevel to the end is a waste of your sub fee There will be plenty of level 60 End Game to get to your teeth into and it's not going to go anywhere for a good while yet, given it's all completely new.

Gear and power items in the cash shop was my dealbreaker. It was a fun 2 years.
