so im almost lvl 20 (mage) and i want to pour all my points into one soul... but i cant due to the cap on how many points max on one soul due to my lvl... dose this change as i get higher in level? or will i be forced to spend in other souls as a game mechanic?

As you level and get to Level 50, you can put all your points into the same Soul, but you will have some left over anyway so it would be a waste not to use them. Often there is an optimum way of spending points for levelling and a different one for level cap depending on what you want to do (raid, pvp etc). Most people mix and match anyway as putting all your points into the same soul isn't recommended whilst levelling (using 51 points in the same tree is a lot more viable at level 50) and also as you get a higher level the skills you get will be more varied as at lower levels a lot of skills are the same in each tier of different souls.

The maximum number of points you can put into any one soul is 51, which you'll be able to do by lvl 50, you just can't put all your points into one too early on.

So, yes, you'll have to put some points into another soul on your way to lvl cap.

Yes, it is a game mechanic. You cannot put more points into any one soul than you have levels. For example, at level 25, you can only put 25 points into one soul tree and must put the other 8 points into other souls. The extra soul point that you receive every third level is the one that must go elsewhere.

As mentioned above, only at level 50 can you put an extra point in one soul for 51 maximum points.
