Play Nice incoming!

Hi Faeblight! I'm Sinn and I'm the guild leader of Play Nice. We've been on Estrael (another PVE-RP server) and sadly find that its time to say goodbye to our current server. Estrael has been on its last legs for a good while now, and as I look around in Meridian and only see three other characters, I know that we're making the right decision, tough as it may be.

We've chosen Faeblight as our new home, as we definitely want to stick with the PVE-RP ruleset. While we aren't a roleplaying guild, we do appreciate the higher concentration of mature players that the PVE-RP servers tend to attract, and we are respectful of any RP community.

We do primarily raid, and have been since April. And this is going to be the sore spot, I think:

We have killed Akylios.

Looking over your progression thread I know that the server first isn't claimed. I also know about Fae's history with Hammerknell firsts, and all of that...drama.

I can't emphasize enough that this is not why we're transferring. Personally I think the whole "someone who's already killed it getting server first on a different server" thing is a major failing in that entire system. I'm not going to pretend that I don't look forward to friendly competition for firsts when new content is released, but that's a completely different situation. As far as I'm concerned, the server first for Akylios will be whichever guild already on Faeblight gets him first, not Play Nice, regardless of what ZAM says.

I hope that Faeblight's community will not let this small thing influence your opinion of us. We're not coming to Faeblight to take the first, and then disappear off to another shard. We're looking for a new home because our current one is all but abandoned.

We're coming to Faeblight because we think it will be a good new home to us, and fully intend to stay. I look forward to getting to know all of you, and I honestly do hope that our assimilation into your community goes as seamlessly as possible.

In all likelyhood the transfer will be happening after we finish our raid week on the 3rd.

Pre-welcome to Faeblight, Play Nice. I think most of us are over that situation. There is friendly competition within Faeblight's raiding guilds despite the recent transfers that have come here. For example, FoH was kind enough to leave us Darktide all to ourselves. Enigma just happened to transfer 2 days before we killed Darktide. Would the nice, white, server message have been nice? Sure, but that's only temporary and I'm not much for bragging about silly things like that. Unless you are among world firsts the achievement doesn't deserve such celebration. No one will remember you. But, I digress. I don't know how the defiant side of Faeblight is, as I do not have a defiant toon, but it can't be any worse than Guardian. What I mean by that is that Guardian side is incredible, active, respectful, albeit a little raunchy in 50chat(isn't every 50chat, though)?

I look at it the same way. Faeblight is transforming into a really active community with really good raiding, RP, and everything in between. We have Kinetic, Aegis, Enigma, AV, SW, Gaiscioch. Gaiscioch has their events that are hugely popular and hugely populated. We have people who organize open-world PVP. We have some amazing things to offer that many won't get on other larger shards with more action and I hope you guys enjoy it as much as I have.

As far as competition in the next tier: We will be right there with you guys. Barring any crazy attendance issues we are pushing as hard as we can for Akylios progression. We've gotten pretty far, but the further you get the harder it gets and the more tired people get, so it's going to be a good, hard push(that sounded wrong). Also, tell Dragonlily he owe's me a Sylvan.

I personally welcome the new guild to the shard. Most of us understand the implications of free server transfers and what that means regarding shard firsts. Very few guilds transfer with the intent of grabbing shard firsts, it's clear to all that Play Nice is not one of those types. No guild can control what has and hasn't been killed on the best shard option. Unlike many of the other shards, Faeblight still has an active population. Welcome and I'll cheer when it happens.

Well, I'm going to be honest here, and hope that what I say is received with an understanding that it is coming from someone who has been on Faeblight for quite a while, and who truly loves the community here.

The shard first thing doesn't really matter. It'd be nice for a Faeblight guild to get the Akylios kill on our own shard, but that's not really a big deal.

What matters - at least to me - is how incoming transfers respect the community and the players here. I'll use Enigma as an example - they've come in, talked to people, made an effort to become part of the community, they run pugs for farm content, etc. They've been great.

Other incoming transfers have...well, been not so great.

Faeblight has always been a helpful community - one where if a new fifty asks a question in 50s chat, they aren't made to feel dumb. One where guilds aren't afraid to announce that they just downed Jorb for the first time, and when they do announce that, we all cheer like mad, as opposed to calling them n00bs. One where people run DRRs just to help others out, place certain items below vendor cost on the AH to help people, etc etc etc. Yes, we've had our share of drama, but the Faeblight community has been a very special one.

Now, why am I bringing this up in this thread?

As soon as a few people arrived from Play Nice last night, I started getting tells from people who have played in Estrael, saying, hmmm, that they don't exactly play nice. Yes, multiple people.

Anyone who knows me knows that I will always give people a chance, and thus I look forward to meeting the players from PN, and will greet them with an open mind. And yes, I will lick them. Every good guild occasionally picks up a bad apple or two, and every good player has a bad moment or two. We're all human, none of us are perfect.

With that, welcome to Faeblight.

The guild is named as such for a reason, hopefully to remind members of what I expect from them with the community.

I, personally, try to be as good of a member of the community I'm in as I possibly can be. I know some people don't like me just because I am the guild leader of a "progression" guild, and honestly that sort of thing confuses the heck out of me but I don't let it bother me.

On Estrael one of our members was the only person who really led any PUG raids of any sort, which is something I strongly encourage, we even have a specific channel in our guild's ventrilo for that sort of thing, and I expect that this will continue though I do see that the niche for PUG raid leading isn't as open as it was on Estrael here on Faeblight ;)

But the long and the short of it, is if anyone has a problem with anyone in Play Nice always feel free to bring it directly to my attention and I will deal with it as necessary. I feel very strongly about the reputation of my guild and I intend to keep it a good one.
