Note that we're currently playing Rift like some other people play WoW- we hit something new, get bored, and come crawling back. Our Rift branch is rather small at the moment, but the guild as a whole is looking at other games, so consider joining the Rift branch as more of a "gateway" than the real deal. Those who are only looking to play Rift for the next 6 months should probably look elsewhere- we don't want to waste your time. Thanks!

The Earthbound is a guild for people who are done with glorified raid groups and trade chat trash. Most guilds offer raiding and just raiding, but only for so long, and rarely for more than one game. The reason so few guild recruitment threads stand out is because they're only around for loot. When loot is found or people get bored, they leave, not to be seen again until there's more loot to be had. Recruitment starts, again looking for warm bodies to aid in the loot runs, people feel "finished" with content, get bored, leave the game, and the cycle repeats itself. So, the question is are you looking for pixels, or do you want to break the cycle and join a community?

Our ranks have real meaning- no alt, social, or raider ranks, which only reflect the character, not the player. De facto power and influence allow members to rise and fall through the ranks, as opposed to giving out ranks first and hoping the correct actions will be carried out. Our functions, events, and general tone is set by the members, not a tyrannical guild leader. In fact, the current GM was chosen by both the members and the officers they chose when the GM needed a break, and he chose to continue to lead when the GM returned- not because he had to, not because he felt obligated to, but by choice.

No RL time commitments, but communication is very important, both in and out of game (non-members only see a very small fraction of our forums). We believe that people should have an environment where they can make an impact when they can without pushing people to burn out.

For Rift, we're mainly taking it easy at the moment. Artifact collecting, world pvp, crafting, etc. If you're looking to raid, I don't think we can help you, but if you want some company while doing a pvp rift, we can help you out =D

We're a multi-gaming guild. Come in and join us for Rift, stay for future games so you never have to fill out an application again. Members who didn't know each other before joining our guild have already gone on to play other games with new members they met in our guild, and no, we don't just play MMOs. If you play other games, I'm sure we got a guildy who's at least heard of your game too =D

We also do guild referrals to those we can't ethically recruit (we don't have a raid group, so we don't recruit raiders at this time). If you want some feedback from a member of the community who isn't attached to a big-named guild, PM me here or in game and I'll see what I can do.
