Zone Event Message Channel

Devs - Could we have a separate channel for zone events? I'd like to know about these while playing, without having to be in the various general chat channels. For me, I just don't want to see the OOC conversations while playing, but I really want to know about Telara events.

I second the OP's idea - good thought!

And, it seems I still can't find the iPhone/Android emulator in-game, so I don't know what the comment made about that was hoping to suggest. Even if everyone had one of those devices, which many still don't, I wouldn't expect them to be watching it while playing to find out about in-game events.

Yeah, just go out and buy a smartphone + $60/mo and you can get all the zone event alerts you want without the pain of other people chatting in your MMO.

I certainly do not, and I wouldn't mind being able to see these announcements without having to follow the chat channels.

World Defense is for PvP rifts. Zone invasions aren't announced in there.

Hey Trion how about a free app for a device that can actually run the Rift client. You know, maybe a device that everyone who plays Rift already owns.

And what device would that be that ' everyone ' owns and what is an 'app'. Fortunately I know what a Zone Event is cus its the first thing I tick to 'untrack' when I play during such things when I log in. As to seperate channels you can create TABS in game, which you could customise. I only have one TAB that I use and that shows 'only' Experience and nothing else.

PS I'm pretty sure an 'app' is related to mobile telephones, but given that I don't own one I guess thats not something that is ever going to be of use to me. But then I'm not 'everyone'.

Wouldn't the simplest way be to just add a zone event notice for each zone to the world defense channel, with the option to toggle specific zones on and off? Since we already have a world defense channel, it seems this should be in there. It would be simpler than modding a phone app or making an addon, it would just be accessible in our chat boxes. Seems to me this would be fairly easy to implement.

A Personal Computer running Microsoft Windows is what I was referring to.

I have experimented with creating Tabs in game. But haven't found a way to create a tab that only shows zone event announcements. I can make one for level 50 chat but I need to be in level 50 chat to see the zone event announcements.

Exactly. Just my way of saying it seems like Trion developed all these free apps for phones and tablet PCs but they left out the largest group of people, the ones that run Microsoft Windows.

There is already a free program that tells you when a zone event starts. It is called Advanced Combat Tracker but you have to type either /log or /combatlog every time you login or disconnect to make it work. It also requires Dot Net Framework which is something people might not have installed if they don't already have a program that requires it.

Doesn't world defense allow people to chat? If they only moved zone event announcements then world defense would be another level 50 chat channel.

What we need is a checkbox in the settings that says "Hide Chat in Level Channels". This way you would only see zone event announcements.

I'm unsubscribed to all the level based channels. They always end up in ooc arguments about religeon, sex, uberness, etc. It kills my gaming experience.

Let me know about zone events without listening to ooc channels.
