Default Idea around getting current progression useful in new expansion

The idea would be fairly easy to make for trion.

Through the 50-60 zones you gain the equivalent to maxed T1 geared, the new dungeons give you slightly over max T2 gear. At this point you have to go to ID to get T3 raid gear where your progression continues to the new T4 raids.

All dungeons would be mentord down to T1 gear, else your wearing new dungeon gear. Meaning people with T3 gear already will have a challenge also doing the new dungeons and they would have to get the dungeon gear as well to be able to do the dungeons easier/quicker. also to access the new T4 raid you must of got a number of achievement points from each new dungeon.

So this means that people who have T3 gear already can go straight to the T4 raids after completing the dungeon stage. This means there current progress gives them an advantage to overs who didn't do any of the raids before. Where as overs have been given there T1 and T2 gear through questing and dungeons but now must complete ID to get to T4.

Making old content irrelevant is the whole point of a level cap increase. They have to, to allow the new players that start with the new expansion, to catch up and not start 1.5 years behind.

And to be honest, you should be happy to leave old dungeons that you've run countless times behind.

    Thanks for the reply

However this only makes the most recent raid relevant, all the T1 and T2 + all dungeons will become irelevant, yet still making the people who raided it an advantage (be it just one tier) advantage.

It makes no sense to pay money for an expansion that effectively REDUCES THE AMOUNT AND VARIETY OF END GAME CONTENT. Raids go from 4 to 2, 10 mans from 3 to 1. This, in my opinion, is the worst design concept I have ever seen in any MMO to date. It's like they took the WoW concept and bloated it to not only trivialize gear, but the entire game world. Sure, the world itself will be bigger, but after the week or so that it takes for everyone to make 60, the available content is shrunk by over a third from what we had before the expansion.

I believe that the number of raids is what the expac will start with, just like rift on live right now, as time passes new content will be added most likely. Didn't rift originally start with one 20 man raid? The expac will start out with 3, not to mention it devs will most likely add more to it. It is still WAY to early for people to start freaking out about the little info we've got.

    haha
sometimes for farming, achievement grinding or using the mentor system they are suppose to be releasing would be the only reasons I could think of needing to go back to 1.xx content, assuming SL will be 2.xx
I would have had more in stock but goblins murdered my supplier.

I dont do the raids for gear. I do them for a challenge of defeating bosses. The gear just comes with the challenge. For those who do them for gear your missing the whole point of playing these games.
