Out of all of the things people have been suggesting, I think something Fae in nature is heading in the right direction. While I don't want to bar the use of an animal/human race (because those Ratonga look pretty sweet), I do agree that it can go overboard quite quickly. What are some more ideas from other people that want to see more racial diversity in Telara?
Cute in mmos reminds me of lalafel in ffxiv or tarutaru in ffxi. Final Fantasy makes the cutest characters. The elezen men are the sexiest also
The fact that there aren't that many races is a positive to me. It's one of the things that make Rift feel more realistic than other games.
Regardless of what happens, people will always be unhappy. Be thankful for what you have and always be constructive.

I still vote for Fae. They can escape the mind-altering magic of the Realm and choose to fight as a third, neutral class. *nods*

Expanding on my thought, I would like to see a starting area for Fae that includes a quest line that allows you to work your way out of the mind-control you are under, facilitating your escape from the Realm.

That is true. 3 races in both factions and no one is really beautiful.
Rift 2.2's Major problems but I still love Rift:
- Lack of more Raid 10 and open world pvp dailies - No Lock loot feature for players who want to help their friends doing raid again. - I want Rift Chocolate back. I was free at that time.
