Zone Event Message Channel

Devs - Could we have a separate channel for zone events? I'd like to know about these while playing, without having to be in the various general chat channels. For me, I just don't want to see the OOC conversations while playing, but I really want to know about Telara events.

Could not agree more. I've been using Rift Mobile but as that is still in Beta it's occasionally buggy. I'd much rather have a separate channel without having to put dozens of players on ignore because I really don't feel the need to read their conversation about anal sex (this is just one example of 50 chat on my server).

Please, please, PLEASE! I don't own a smart phone, and I don't plan on buying one (especially just to use the mobile app). I normally self-filter all the immature and inane chatter in the public channels just to see the zone events, but last weekend things got so amazingly racist, filthy and offensive (even with language filter turned running) on the Byriel server that I couldn't bear to leave 1-29, 30-49, or 50 chat running. There is simply no way for me to see when a zone event happens without. I am fine with missing the opportunity to PUG raids and raid rifts but I would love to see when these events happen so I can participate in this portion of the game.

Can we PLEASE have a channel or set of channels that announce zone events but disallows public input?

World Defense is for PvP rifts. Zone invasions aren't announced in there.

This would work, but I don't know how committed Trion is to announcing Zone Events only to the level appropriate people (e.g. those that have access to the right channel). Either allow everyone to see Zone Events through the World Defense Channel no matter their level, split up the World Defense in to level appropriate channels that unlock as you level (much like the Common Chat Channels now), or just copy the concept of the Common Chat Channels and unflag the ability for player blah-blah-blah.

Doing this will not necessarily end the use of the Common Chat Channels by other players, rather it will simply give us the option to leave them for a while if we need a break from inane or inappropriate chatter while still being able to enjoy an important aspect of Rift.
