There were cases of name griefing whereby people took names of well known guilds that were invited to the beta etc. and maybe you chose a name for your guild that was one of those? Just grasping at straws here. But maybe that was it. Sorry though, while I don't believe in name griefing I don't believe you should be penalized due to the other guild having to move due to the Q's.
What a hard call though for the GM to make :/
If you chose to name your guild after a group that is about as wow-famous as a group can get, then when they come to your server then you SHOULD lose the name. They shouldn't disband your guild though, they should change the name and allow you to choose another.
Goon Squad though....seriously.....That is the guild name you are complaining about losing?
Those guys have put years of work into creating, publishing and maintaining that (virtual) image. That guild name is known across the country, and I think that they have a right to it. If they were moving around constantly, then you could argue against this being done multiple times, but a single move because of server pop is understandable.
Are you just really in love with the idea of constantly explaining to people that "we aren't THAT Goon Squad"? Is that how you meet women?
Seriously, I still love some of their videos from 4 years ago. Bringing Jaena to ogrimmar. The 1-minute wintergrasp win. Those guys are mmo legends.
Awaiting Screenshots.
Pretty awful if true. It would be pretty much par for the course for Goons though.
What the hell is a "goon squad?" I have never heard of it. Are they important or something, because I went through some databases at work, and we have a lot of info on everyone. Not one mention of this particular bunch. It sounds like a bunch of kids running around in their mommy's moo moo's and underwear having sword fights being goons, as in the sense of when I called someone a goon they were a goofball. Of course this was back in the decade of the 80's.
Maybe they are just that, a bunch of goofballs just having fun their way. Just because you don't like them or what you say they do it really doesn't matter, you can't honestly let something that happens in a game effect you. The game is where real life takes a back seat. So come on ladies and gentlemen, have fun. I need to cut this off now, time for my morning dump.

I call BS on this one.

We could pull the incident reports out of our logs. They state that the GM knowingly disbanded the guild. Another GM accusing us that we had to have disbanded the guild because they don't do that. And another saying to stop opening tickets because the matter is finalized. I'm not sure how we get the customer support logs but he stated that he looked in the logs and saw that we formed the guild within the first 40 minutes of the game going live.
I am not sure what you deem is actual proof though I guess we have to screen shot it.
Regardless of the op's intentions its pretty apparent that he got the name first on said server or the gm's would not have to rip it and disband his guild. Those are the only facts that matter. if the larger guild was intending on being on questioned server they should have done a better jopb at getting the name quicker then a 5 person guild. Either way the larger guild failed miserably, and went crying to a GM who completely ignored the policy(first come first serve). Those are the pertinent facts and as such the GM should be fired and the name on that server be given to those that registered it first.
If the larger guild doesn't like it they should move servers. You cant call a server in a forum and not expect to have to work for it by registering it first. Unless the corp allows u to pre-register the name, which isnt the case here.
