I really don't care where you're playing from. If you're playing on NA servers you're already adapting to NA schedules.

The servers will be "dead" in the mornings and early afternoons whether PST and EST players are on them or not.

If you think about it, it would be easy for 10 man guilds to raid on these "universal" servers because its not that hard to find 9 other people to get together at a specific time. The hard part comes in for 20 man guilds.

Lets say you live in Easter time, and you to raid at 8:00 pm, that would make it 5:00 pm server time, and with population server spread out all over the US, it will be much harder to find 19 other people to raid at 5:00 pm server time.

In a game where aspects of it are determined by how many people are logged in you absolutely cannot create an environment that is timezone biased.
I disagree. If you are in the minority that plays at off-hours, why not just login to a server where peak time would match the time you are available. From a ping perspective it doesn't matter as all the servers are in a central location. If I live in EST and work until midnight, I could just pick the PST server.

I'm not sure why people are so adamantly opposed to this idea. I'd rather play when the majority of players are logged on as that means more action, more pvp, more raiding, more rifts, etc. If there is no timezone designation you have the same total number of players spread across a wider range of time which means less people playing simulatenously.

All the timezone designation would do would be to make it easier for people to congregate with those on similar schedules. What is the down side to this?

I tend to lean toward PST servers though because I work a late 2nd shift and when I get home it's prime playing time.
    1. Base all times on GMT. Everyone should know their offset by now from setting computer clocks

group players on servers by time ranges:
    1600 - 2000, go to A
    1800 -2200, go to B
    2000 - 2400 go to C
    0000-0400, go to D.

Cluster players by the times they play, not by where they live. (Not everyone works 9-5)

Ideally, server populations will be high enough so there will always be plenty of people online at all hours, with no need for time grouping.

So, I get off work at 1900 EST, get home and finish dinner by 2030. So, I'd be looking for a server with peak activity between 1530 and 2000 GMT, so I'd sign up a server in group A.

Turn the bars on the shard select screens into graphs. 0000-2400 left to right, with color indicating peak population hours.

Really all I care about is having a good time and making new friends while I do so and that is why I offered. I understand anyone being skeptical however once they joined us they would see that we are serious about our guilds growth, rules, and having fun. None the less, the offer still stands as it is written in my previous post. As well, you dont have to be in EST to join.

In the begining to me it's logical to have all the servers 1 time zone to more evenly balance server load.Rather than have everyone from east coast log into 1 server and everyone from west coast log into another, this would just create more "off-peak" dead zones when the active hardware was'nt being utilized.Later when trion has some solid demographics as to what they are dealing with, then you might see some changes, but for now at launch it really doesnt make much sense to do this.Just my opinion.

If they don't do it now then they should never do it, imo. If they changed it later, by then the players would have adapted to it anyway and EST/PST communities will have established themselves on servers. Shatterbone seems like it has a good EST/CST pop so that's where I'm going.

If you need to plan a guild raid at 9 PM EST, you plan it at 9 PM EST, and tell your guild mates in other time zones to convert to their time (example 6 PM in Cali). The server time in this case has absolutely ZILCH to do with when you all decide to do the guild raid. It still goes off at the time YOU set.

The only time that server time or Trion time should matter is on the days Trion says, "Hey we are taking the servers down and they will be back up whenever". THAT is when you pay attention to what time they say.

Other than that, it is in YOUR hands to plan your events. The servers are on, no matter WHAT time it is where you are. It is not up to Trion to move half the servers to the east coast and half to the west coast, nor is it up to them to set every server to run on YOUR time. You know where they are, they will always be there (as far as we know). Plan accordingly.
I think what he is getting at is... The fact all servers are set to one server time means, you have people from england or austrailia in a server that is set to PST. This means that for those who come on at 4 in the morning PST might be getting on at 4 in the afternoon in another time zone. This makes it difficult for those people to find a raiding guild. IF all the server times were different, all persons playing on the server would have an average raiding date of say from 5-12, and this makes finding a raid guild much simpler. The labels on each one would indicate for the player, "If you are living in austrailia, here is the austrailian servers." In fine print it means more people raiding in austrailia are gonna come here for normal austrailian raiding times, putting all austrailian raiders in the same server and not disspersed throughout the servers. PLus switching servers is costly if you do it a lot.
