DPS Meter Poll Results. Trion, The community does not want them.

Agreed, polls only truly work when they are random. Otherwise you have a biased opinion. To do this properly, you could collect a number of peoples email address, or have a number of people PM you on the forum. From there, pick a group of RANDOM people and send them the poll (after starting it fresh). That would give you better results. I have an idea. I'd like a group of about 40 people to PM me. I'll use 2 D20 dice to pick 20 of you and I'll ask them what they want. Sounds fair to me.

Would you like it if I started yet ANOTHER thread about this dead horse then? A "DPS Meter" or "Parser" changes ZERO game play. If anything, it teaches people the most efficient ability rotation for the souls they have selected at the time.

A thread that is going on a day or two from now that just says Random poll particpants wanted. With no indication of the type of poll until they actually go to it would be very effective I think.

Edit: Though I think the results would be similar and then you'll have a ****storm of about 5 people trying to discredit you using google-fu and personal attacks.

When you claim that "no one ever said players" and then you later state that "every company listens to the majority of the player base." Then that is a lie. See you cannot have your cake and eat it too. Either it was said, or it wasn't. For someone claiming to have attending a prestigious business school and already graduated and yet fail such basic logic is horrendous.

With a Sample size big enough to represent 50,000 Players:

68% Do Not want DPS meters in this game. (Be it 3rd party or developed specifically by Trion)

25% Do want DPS meters in this game.

7% Had no opinion.

There are the hard numbers.

The only question left is, should Trion strictly follow the majority or do they find a way to accommodate 25% of their player base.

My personal thought is this:

DPS Meters that are not spammable to chat and that look at the sole individuals DPS (not the groups or the raids) and is not real time (I.E. a function of the UI that you can bring up like a character window that requires you hit an update button to review the current data).

I suppose if the poll went in the other direction, and someone made the same argument you are trying to offer on it's validity, you'd be all over it.

I wonder how many pro-dps-ers, who voted and are rejecting the results, thought about and were incensed about the invalidity of the sample at the time they were voting. Did anyone bring this up before the results? Just asking. . .
