    Default What souls can heal?

Other than the Cleric class, can any other class/soul combo heal directly (vs indirect healing - such as "gains health from blocking attacks," etc.)?

Checking out a Soul Planner, I see the Warrior Paladin soul has a direct heal (touch of Life), but it is on a 10 minute timer. Also, the Rogue Bard soul has a DoT heal (Motif of Regeneration) and two direct heal (Motif of Vitality, Coda of Restoration).

I've always preferred hybrid classes in my MMORPGs and since I tend to spend most my limited game time soloing/questing I like to minimize downtime (time spent running back to a corpse, time spent waiting for health to regen between battles, etc.). I always gravitate towards classes that can heal themselves plus deal damage (vs pure healers). Does this limit me to the Cleric class in Rift (not that I would have anything against that)?

    Thanks!

The mage Chloromancer soul is a healing soul. I was healed through my first runs of Realm of the Fae by a Chloromancer mage. Not sure how they stack up against cleric heals later in the game, though.

cleric calling: warden, purifier and sentinel are healer-dedicated souls
Justicar has healing as secondary ability.
Mage calling: Chloromancer is an healer-dedicated soul
Necromancer and Archon have secondary healing abilities
Rogue calling: Bard has really strong secondary healing abilities (nearly as strong as a dedicated healer)
Warrior calling: Paladin has an emergency heal.
(I'm counting only the abilities to heal others, not self heals)

The two obvious answers are Chloromancer and Bard.

In addition to those, you have several other Mage souls that can heal themselves through various means. The Riftstalker can heal itself by killing targets that have combo points on them. Reavers can heal themselves through two of their DOT abilities. There are others as well.

For a not so obvious one, assassins have a poison that have a 20% chance to heal themselves..

Chloromancers could be a main healer if need be, no doubt. Bards on the other hand, with Cadence and a couple of HoTs, highly doubtful although they are decent at keeping peoples health up in PvP and easier fights.

You know you have a NPC who sell drinks arent ya? Well its very cheap and if your out of mana or hp just drink it and voila you are full. No need to have healing class just to heal yourself. If your hp wont go down you mana will for sure. You'll ended up just where you dont want to. Drinks are your sollution for any class you pick.

I know a bard that solo-healed a Foul Cascade group, so they can definitely heal through at least some of the instances. And well played bards are generally the highest "Healing Done" in warfronts, although that doesn't mean they can heal PvP well. They have a harder time dealing with burst damage than the other healing souls, which is kind of important in organized PvP.

Hunters have a pet healing spell with enough points in the soul.

Thanks! I've never much gravitated towards the mage/pure caster classes in my RPG games. I tend to prefer classes that can wield a weapon + wear some armor and get in your face (or at least the mobs face). In the most recent MMORPG I played up until two years ago (that shall remain nameless but lets just say it has millions of subscribers) I had the most fun playing a Paladin or Druid. Both could heal directly and do damage. This allowed me to enjoy my play style to the fullest since after a battle a quick heal enabled me to get right back into the fight. Also, having the ability to heal myself when a fight just wasn't going my way gave me that "oh sh*t" capability that saved my hide and lead me to victory countless times. Conversely, on my non-healing characters (like a warrior) not having that pinch-heal made it a true fight to the finish where often a big crit by a mob or add meant a walk back to the graveyard or corpse.

Yeah over time I can imagine them racking up the most heals from spamming their HoT Motiff and cadence AoE healing everyone around them, but they are no replacement for someone who needs a big time DD heal from a mage nuke they just took to the face
