Nope, not that one. My style tends to be taking names and roughly phoneticizing them. So the cast of Game of Thrones that appear around Whitefall, various singers and bands that I like (Nichobad Caveseeds, Suze Vega), etc. But yes, outside of achievements and artifacts, the rule is supposed to be that the jokes and pop culture references aren't obvious. Actually, the rule is we don't do them. So we just try to keep it subtle enough to sneak by the watchers.

I also enjoy playing with /emote interactions, though I had nothing to do with the awesome Cape Jule frogs. But Watcher Beforezod? Yeah, guilty.

If you're looking for WoW-esque pop-cultural silliness, then no, there's not much of that type of "humor". And thank goodness for that, I say.

I can think of numerous times in games when humour is used as a brief interlude between tricky tasks and is a useful mechanism to break up the heavy game play. I have never had issues with the Warcraft type humour as you can pick and choose when to interact. There are also numorous voice emotes in Warcraft which add further interest to the game. Rift does have subtle humour... Alsbeth struggles with her minions and always has a good line when they fail. But the general interaction in game particularly with NPCs is very dull. And your own character has no voice what so ever. Really puzzling that.

Anyway the funniest thing in game still has to be goblins, particularly the ones with their spiders in Gloamwood. Always a hoot.

There is plenty of humor in the artifact sets; both regular and red sparklies. References to ingame events, to tv series (Lost, for example) and plenty more.

today I found the scientists room in Necropolis, that was an awesome find. I ROFL then did it 4 or 5 more times in a row just to watch

go up the path, find the room, interact with the giant syringe, watch what happens to the deviant scourge

kudos Trion I love finding the little details in the game like that stray cat who starts following you around Tulan and the guy with all the one liners at the inn in Necropolis but the scientists room has been the best so far

Like many have said, it depends on your style.

If you're like me and have a pretty dark sense of humor, than it's non-existent.

So are you the one we blame/credit for the chanting Brother Vance does during a timed quest in the Turnis River Bunker. I can't believe that one made it past the "watchers".

Apparently, though, once they're in they're tolerated.

This reminds me of college, where we were a "dry campus", with a definite no-alcohol policy. Very, very, little effort went into enforcing this; rather, it was just a way to make people keep the drinking subtle enough that it wasn't disruptive.
You can play WoW in any MMO. You don't have to play WoW in RIFT. Oh, and no, RIFT is not a WoW clone. Not having fun any more? Learn to play, noob! I don't speak for Riftui, but I moderate stuff there. Got ideas for improving the RIFT community? Feel free to PM me. Just came back? Welcome back! Here's what's changed. (NOTE NEW URL)

Please tell me (archive of flesh) Ahzrius' cast 'Wave of Mutilation' is a Pixies reference.

Default Unascended Adventurer Non-Combat Pet please!

He's already in the game, give us a quest line to convince him to join us.

Sadly, humor is the one thing that the writers for Rift just don't do well at all. Their best jokes are simple references to other games, or pointing out various gameplay oddities, and frankly nobody is ever going to top Kingdom of Loathing in that department. It probably doesn't help that the overarching plot mirrors so many real-world political issues, and thus ensures that nobody can tell any really good jokes without some concern troll pitching a fit for attention.
Storm Legion honestly tries to be more funny, but it can only do this by forcing the player to act like they're carrying an Idiot Ball the whole time, or sometimes even an ******* Ball. I haven't run into any questline humor yet that can hold a candle to SW:TOR's.

I like the humor in Rift. For example, I thought the quest "A not so great escape" in Seratos was funny.

I'm an altoholic: Five 60 clerics, five 50 mages, two 50 warriors, three 50 rogues, etc...
