Project: RIFT Guru, for the community, from the community

Ever since RIFT has launched from launch, there has not been a fan site that has managed to offer what I would define as the ‘real’ deal, I am talking about the kind site that is run by people who actually play the game and are enthusiastic about sharing their knowledge of RIFT to benefit others, a site that brings you up to date news from all ends of the spectrum, that constantly strives to build and expand a community within RIFT, a site that does it all because they want to see RIFT grow, expand and thrive and that doesn't just do it because they can make chump change from advertising.

Over the past couple months I have been assembling a team of dedicated RIFT fans with various skills, knowledge and also a strong commitment to making an awesome fan site with the following 5 aims~

1. To promote and expand the community within RIFT with community events, competitions and other interactions, for the growing development of the game.
2. To collaborate and share all knowledge from all top-end aspects of game-play, to provide a large source of knowledge that players who have less time to devote to playing the game can learn from.
3. To interview developers and ask the key questions on everyone's mind regarding future updates and common problems and annoyances facing the community.
4. To provide not only informing but also entertaining news articles.
5. To act as a clear guide for both new and returning players, to help them get into them get back into the game and bring them up to speed on the development the game has gone through.

The site is not aimed at making any profit, At the moment we have quite a few people who are already voluntarily backing this project out of there own pocket, myself included, if for whatever reason we do get rather high upkeep costs, we will consider adding in a donate button, to pay for these upkeep costs.

We have already got the initial base version of the site up and running, we are just working extensively testing and adding a boatload of content and also fixing any bugs before we decide to open it up to the community

Our plans for the launch of this site are absolutely, which will include a ton of competitions and events that will giveaway various ingame and out of game rewards, I can't give you to much information on that at the moment, but I will in the upcoming weeks, I'd just suggest brushing up on your MS paint skills ;)

So I made this thread to gather a bit of interest from a few individuals who posses a very particular set of skills, I'm looking for people with the following knowledge who would be interested coming aboard our 'team' and writing for the site itself I'm looking for people who specialist knowledge who would be willing to write guides for the following subjects:

• Endgame Rogue DPS Guides
• Endgame Warrior Tanking Guides
• Endgame Warrior DPS guides
• Raiding Guides for Endless Eclipse
• Somebody who is very active and enjoys lurking about on the PTS and looking for new and exciting changes
• Advanced Chloromancer healing guide
• Endgame Bard Guide
• "Quick cap and pro tips guides" for Expert Dungeons

If you have specialism in anything not listed above and are interested in getting involved with project RIFT Guru, I'm sure we'd love to have you look over previous guides and also make additions and changes to them accordingly and build on them, or if you have anything unique to bring to the table or would like to offer I'd love to hear from you!

Awesome idea.

I'm far from hardcore enough to be of much use in submitting guides or anything, but will be keeping a keen eye on this. Would love to see a comprehensive guide for titles & dimension items put together somewhere. Might be able to submit to those eventually.

This looks very good, I get the impression that you are quite serious about this. Are you going to focus solely on the game mechanics/game-play of rift?
There's a lack of sites that pay regard to the lore of the game (not a full on focus, but something to take along), and something that is sorely missed. As far as I know, there's no site that keeps up to date with the new lore in Storm Legion.

Actually one of our team already is very very interested in the lore and we had some brief discussion about doing minor sections of the lore and speculation, this will become particularly interesting now that Regulos is defeated and Crucia's dragon form shattered, I myself pay partial attention to lore, but then again I'm not a 'massive' lore junkie =)

I've found people to write both the Warrior Tanking and Warrior DPS guides, had a chat with a couple of you last night, I'll get in contact with a few more of you shortly =)

Maybe sometime in the future it would be a good idea to start a podcast (since there are not many Rift-related) or do some G+ Hangouts (like we tried with Rift+).

I like the idea of a G+ Hangout sometime, I'd hop straight onboard but with managing all the projects for the site and sorting out a team of people, along with leading a guild and my real life work, I don't quite have the time at the moment, but it's definitely on the list of something I'd like to do.

One of my initial idea's for a launch event is something like a Hammerknell run on the PTS, where each class can only use 3 souls (Obviously that have the least compatability, for example, Clerics = Druid/Sentinel/Cabalist) and have to put at least 15 points in each soul... as well as this add my own twist on the RIFT Drinking Game tailored for modern times, for example the highest DPS has to take a shot and mentor down a few levels, have quite a few interesting characters in the group, hop on teamspeak, livestream it and have a rather interesting night, while also doing a few giveaways throughout the evening =)

I have some more updates for you. These are more that will be making their way out to PTS for some feedback before they would go to live.

Pyromancer

• Flame Sigil, Extinguish and Fusillade no longer consume Combust, but now have a shared 10s cooldown.
• Reduced damage from Combust.
• Fulminate now receives a 15% increase per stack of Combust.
• Flame Sigil now lasts 15s and has a max stack size of 5.
• Improved Flame Bolt now only affects spells and will no longer benefit melee attacks.

Most of these changes are to help balance out the power gain from the first change. The idea is to help simplify the rotation a bit without killing the DPS or making other builds overpowered. The change to Improved Flame Bolt is looking to bring down the Pyrobinger's dps a small amount.

Warlock

• Void Barrage now refreshes DoTs with the initial tick of damage.
• Reduced the cooldown of Void Barrage to 20s.
• Expanded Contagion now includes Atrophy in the list of DoTs it allows Radiate Death to spread.
• Fixed an issue where Salvage Corruption and Deathly Pall could be used to apply Death's Door to an enemy with greater than 50% health.

Regarding Consuming agony and Opportunity I'm looking at a couple ideas. One I thought I'd float by you all is making Void Bolt no longer consume Opportunity. Thoughts?

Which pretty much destroys half the current mage guides, I believe the plan will probably to be release the site with/slightly after 2.2, so all the major class changes have gone through and we can change the guides are up to date and relevant for 2.2 and beyond. =)
