Rift reddit saw this other other day, the art work there is absolutely stunning.
Amazing art. These perspectives give me a whole new appreciation for the world we are questing in.

i wish the engine could render graphical flame effects similar to this artwork
or had such wet effects with an encounter like this
and this one 1:1 detail would be extremely awesome
too bad the engine can't handle the awesomeness of the artworks

Seriously, that is some glorious artwork. I am super curious as to methodology: A lot of the art looks very much like it was done with various media. Are your artists doing paint and pastels and such, or are they using digital stuff that does the effects?
You can play WoW in any MMO. You don't have to play WoW in RIFT. Oh, and no, RIFT is not a WoW clone. Not having fun any more? Learn to play, noob! I don't speak for Riftui, but I moderate stuff there. Got ideas for improving the RIFT community? Feel free to PM me. Just came back? Welcome back! Here's what's changed. (NOTE NEW URL)

This is just phenomonal work. It's an inspiring blend/fusion of Frank Herbert imagination mixed in with Geiger all at once. Very nice.
The concept art technique most of the team use is draw in pencil>scan>colour in Photoshop.
For 3D modeling we employ the technique that most modern games do, which is use 'Zbrush' to create an initial high resolution sculpt>Maya to make the in game version of the model>assign the surface undulation of the high res sculpt to the in game model (normal map)>paint colour, specular and glow textures in Photoshop.
Hmnmm does this provide a sampler of the work of recently layed off staff?
Is it intended to provide a public source for them to reference in their job hunting?
There are eight species of Bear (Ursidae): Arctos, Americanus, Thibetanus, Maritimus, Helarctos, Melonleuca, Ornatus, Malayanus, Ursinus.
Koalas are not one of them, not even close.
