Storm Legion New Mage Soul Reveal

Hail Ascended,

I am extremely excited to announce that the RIFT community team is gearing up for the first Storm Legion new soul glimpse. If you’re a mage, know a mage, or like mages you’re not going to want to miss this!

Get your first glimpse and discover the name of the new soul and its role on Friday, August 10th at 2:30PM PDT.

During this preview you will have the opportunity to submit questions to James “Elrar” Nichols and Elizabeth “Dahanese” Tobey.

This particular thread is to give you an opportunity to submit some questions so that the Trion team can be ready to answer them. Please remember that this is just a sneak peak. Elrar and Dahanese won’t be able to answer everything just yet but they’ll be happy to show you some of the exciting things that you can expect in the future.

If there is something that you’d like to know please submit questions in this thread or via Twitter @RIFTgame #RIFTLS (please use the hashtag or we might miss your question). I’ll collect them all and pass them off to Trion before show time.

Please bear in mind that the Storm Legion souls are still a work in progress and this is a first look. Consider it just a small peak into the amazing things that will arrive with the expansion.

In the coming weeks you can look forward to a live stream unveiling the remaining Warrior, Cleric, and Rogue souls when they’re ready for their debut!

Question: We all know old souls are having their trees and max number of points expanded. My question is are any of the souls going through massive overhauls in use, or are they simply being built upon their current state?

I wont to know if there really IS going to be a tank soul for mages or if the soul is a melee version where main hand/off hand/shield/totem and be great single target like the bloodstalker build or if its going to be good at single target and aoe.

Will there be a new resource mechanic to deal with i.e Hypothermia/Electrified or will it be simplified for straight mana use?

Will you be able to tell us:

What dedicated role it will be given? Such as Tank, PVP, PVE Healing, Support, Melee DPS, Ranged ST DPS, ect.

How it will be different from souls that also fit within the same role? Paladin/Warlord/Void Knight/Reaver vs. Justicar vs. Riftstalker would be an example. Archon vs. Bard would be another example.

Will each Calling get a more unique feel to it's Gameplay to go along with the addition and reassessment of the Souls?

For example, the difference between Rogues and Mages is markedly noticeable by their resources; Energy + Combo Points, versus Mana + Charge. What about further differentiating Rogues from Warriors and Clerics from Mages?

Though... kind of really hoping we'll be hearing about some Patch 1.10 news soon as well. Feels a bit odd that we haven't heard much of anything about it yet when it's probably coming out by the end of this month, and it sounds like we'll be seeing a huge change in how Defiant/Guardian players can interact with each other.

will we be seeing any soul quest to go along with the new souls? i feel if the original idea of doing quests for souls was re-implimented but in a more interesting way that had story and meening behind it, it could be a real plus to the soul gathering. maybe if not for the original 8, for the new one?

will the new souls require being a certain level to obtain (50+) or the SL expansion purchased or will they be available at level 1 for new players?

will we be seeing a 6th slot for us to save souls or will we still be stuck with 5?
