    Default Another Gear Reset?

So what's up with the gear Trion? Will it need to be reset when we go up to 60? Just kind of worndering where this is at?

Even still, people should just wait to get ID gear when something 10 level's ahead is right around the corner? If I'm missing some info, let me know.

Will my Soliton Blade just become a paperweight?

I always loved the idea in EQ1 of weapons leveling as you do. I don't see why they can not implement something similar in Rift for relic items or higher. A quest maybe to capture a soul into the weapon that then grows in power.

otherwise paperweight it is for your blade.

In addition, how do you continue to make the content relevant to run anymore?

Will ID and HK just be a joke?

So, what happens when a raider realizes that the gear/achievements/progression that he has scheduled his life around for the last six months or so means absolutely nothing? This is one option...

It has never and will never mean anything. Just play the game or not.

Wo, backup I play for fun ultimately but still. 10 Levels is a huge jump.

That's the whole thing about relic's I never understood. Why make something orange? Really when in 6 months, it might as well be green.

Spend 50 grand on a new car. Drive it off the dealer's lot. It just lost half its value.

Things in the real world depreciate with use and time. This is the video game equivalent.

From my experience raiding and with raiders, we don't do it primarily for the loot. That is a bonus which allows us to progress through the instance. The enjoyment comes from overcoming the challenges and measuring your progress against the other top Guilds when the content is current and difficult.

When new content is released so are new challenges. It doesn't make what we accomplished in the past irrelevant. For a real life comparison, say you win the Men's Singles at Wimbledon this year then realise the Olympics are just around the corner - that doesn't make winning Wimbledon any less of an achievement or any less enjoyable.

You know what I did with the first epic and relic I received in this game? I destroyed it because it was just sitting there. As we level, we will get upgrades. I do not believe there will be an exponential jump, however. I believe that you'll see gear start off around the level of Ember Isle and scale up from there. Look at the difference in gear between a level 20 and a level 30. There's no reason why gear can't progress like that.
Regardless of what happens, people will always be unhappy. Be thankful for what you have and always be constructive.

I saw this dynamic play out in WoW when Blizzard announced the first expansion. My guild was raiding AQ 20/40 at the time and hoping to finish Naxxramas (last raid zone in vanilla WoW) before the expansion hit. Then word got out from beta testers of the gear reset in Burning Crusade. In Burning Crusade, you easily got blue/green gear from normal questing that was better in many cases than the best Vanilla WoW raid gear.

At this point, it was easy to tell who in your guild raided for the fun of it versus those who only did it for the loot. Unfortunately for my guild too many people were in the latter category and we were forced to give up trying to beat Naxxramas before TBC launched.

Raiding shouldnt be about the Loot, its about the fun gameplay. The whole idea of MMO's is progression but that has side effects, it makes it unwelcoming for new players with a huge mountain to climb and without new players there wont be a game.

Gear is useless anyway, all it is is pixels on the screen that allow you access to the latest content and will also give you an advantage leveling to 60. You should get the gear for fun, not because you want to roll newbs

In 2011 I had one or two pieces of end game raid gear in EQ1 that had stats that an entire raid of gear combined could not match in 1999.

Thats the way an MMO works.

You collect gear so that you can beat the next level raids, where you collect gear to beat the level after that and so on. If you don't want that treadmill maybe progression raiding is not for you.

The game is new enough that almost all raiders are end game and "everyone" expects to stay there but over time that will not happen. It will stratify as time goes on and true endgame raiders will start to emerge and all others will be working on content that is an expansion or two (or three) old.

The point of your equipment, if you are a progression raider, is to beat the next tier. It then becomes obsolete as you collect gear in that tier. You don't marry it.
