World Event Merchant changes for 1.9

Hey all,

1.9 will release next Wednesday, 6/27 at the normal update times. You have until that time to purchase items using the currencies for the first 3 World Events.

Absolutely - if you have enough currency I don't believe there are any restrictions for purchasing the item if you want to do that

Thanks for the heads up. Just to check, after the 1.8 World Event ends, will the World Event Merchant sell the "fire" lesser essences that are bought with Molten Gold Ingots? You mentioned Glass Beads, but not the ingots, and it would be great to know whether I need to spend my ingots before 1.9

I noticed on the PTS that there are no items to purchase with 'Molten gold ingot' from the World Vendor, am I to assume, better buy the eternal lessers now before the patch goes live..??

For the love of all things Telaran, and the sake of those of us that did not catch wind of this change in WE merchant tokens, PLEASE provide an exchange merchant for us to deal with the last of what we each have as we each see fit. Many, I'm certain, have a lot of tokens left over of all kinds, but not enough of any one to do anything useful. Many have stated they were saving stockpiles for alts. I have to agree that it is not the change, or taking away items available that is upsetting so many, but the lack of any means to do something about it beforehand. Not everyone saw or was aware of this change back when the exchange merchant was available, or this would not be such a big negative now. Please put the exchange merchant back in game, even if temporary.

I'm not personally affected by this, as I was away for most of those events, but this seems oddly punitive.

The currency converting merchant already exists. The argument that we were told when he would go away is not a fair one, as we were not told that entire currencies were going away.

I don't see why the currency converter NPC can't be brought back. It would do no harm, and help some folks out.

You've got to play fair with people. You shouldn't change the world, particularly in a way that erases people's efforts, and then criticise folks for not having knowledge that was not publicly available.

So I ask the people I am with what it means... and they say "Fire Opals are going away" It's on the forums.

so I log out at 2am on a work night... go to bed... wake up FOUR HOURS later come to work and go to the forums to educate myself... to find out my currency is being removed while I sit here at work today.

I think I have like 6k of those....I was saving them for my alts that are not 50.

This was not enough notice for those of us who don't read forums on a regular basis... notifications like these should be distributed via in-game-mail... a month in advance for those of us who don't play much.... NOT on the forums and then as an after thought a brief blip of yellow text on my screen that I assume is all as timely as the storm legion spam... which doesn't even have a release date... so I figured I had a week or so... I didn't think it was urgent as hell...

I'm pretty annoyed with you guys... and I am sure when other people see that that notification was a semi-cryptic ONE DAY heads up and not a "this will happen in a few weeks" kind of thing... you will have a lot more pissed off people.

Elrar... you are a community relations manager... tell them their tools they are using to feed us critical info like this is not an effective solution... Forums in a web browser is not an effective notification tool for something that doesn't make you open a web browser and point to that page the info is on... it quite simply is not.

Starting the next update after 1.9, Dragon Tears and Magma Opals will be obsolete.

Can you clarify this as well? What does 'the next update' mean? Should we be expecting Dragon Tears and Magma Opals to be useless after 1.9.1/Hotfix? Or in one week on the usual midweek patching scheldue? Or did you mean 2.0? It's kinda important I would think.

No it wasn't...

It wasn't even on this forum for more than 40 days... that is not months.

I have NEVER seen any notifications in channels... of any sort... they use server wide broadcasts... not channels... why would they use channels and have to repeat themselves in every zone and level channel? I mean come on.. that is ridiculous.

If it was on the facebook stream... I may have missed it... but then again I don't consider ANY MEDIA OUTSIDE THE GAME CLIENT AS VIABLE. I am not required to log into that stuff and therefore it in an unacceptable way of contacting me.

I would have accepted an E-MAIL to my home acct... however some people make up fake e-mail accts to register the game to to cut down on spam... I am not one of them... but I'm in I.T. and so I know people do it... IMHO if that was how they did it and someone missed it... well they didn't ask you to make a fake e-mail acct they wanted the real one... so that is IMHO their problem and not Trions.

An in game mail is the way to do this... and maybe less spam to my e-mail about this awesome new 3 faction PvP stuff.. and more about changes to the game that will impact my virtual pocketbook.... I appreciate the info about the 3 faction PvP thing... that's fine... but to tell me THREE times the same info... and then skip telling me this about my in game currency... well... that is rude... I don't even require any fancy pics... just a simple

That's ALL I expect... and it's not hard to accomplish.

I get in game mail from some of the world events when they are started... why not when the currency is about to vanish?

I'm sure you are very knowledgeable about the game... but you have to stop and think... we are not all like you... I have my wedding I am planning... a full time job... and 2 kids... both kids, myself, my mom, and my grandfather all had birthdays in the month this has been on the forums... and there was father's day... and 2 deaths out of state in my fiancee's family that we had to attend... if you can point to when I was so bored I wanted to come out to read forums because I was thinking a ninja change was going to happen... I'd like to see where that spare time was...

All my free time I can spare for Rift... is spent IN GAME... not ON FORUMS... if I wanted to just be on forums to discuss games... there are plenty of those that don't cost me $10 a month... I pay to play the game... not to cruise the forums.

I'm glad you have the free time to do so... I used to back when I was fresh out of college... I don't anymore. I check the forums after major class balance patches... that's about it. But that is more than is required to play the game well...

Whenever someone uses ellipses instead of punctuation I picture them as talking very slowly and thoughtfully in a disjointed manner.
