There are not Powers above the Earth, on the Earth or beneath the Earth that can separate us from His love.
I just form a group with them, /follow and go to sleep.

Remove all NPC merchants and only allow stuff to be purchased from other players?
Eve does it and that works outs (I think... Not sure if they have NPC merchants or not. Been a while since I've played.)
****... to circumvent plat sellers, Trion could do exactly what Eve does... sell currency themselves... and certain currency can be used to pay for in game time...
It'll never happen. Would take a whole revamping of the system. But it would be awesome if Trion experimented with it at least on the PTS.
I;'v ran into my fair share of bot's. I'v noticed alot of them if you join as a public group will throw there program out of wack. They will tag a mob and run and run and tag and tag until they have 20-50 mobs on them lol.
No. Do not try to copy the crapfest that is Eve. I brought up Eve to prove as an example of how NOT to do a game. Eve is the most bot-infested game there is. Anywhere from 1/2 to 3/4 of the "players" in that game are bots. FYI there are NPC vendors, and the majority of a Bot's income is from rewards given from killing npcs or Eve's equivalent of quests.
Selling currency is also stupid. A MMO company should have microtransactions OR subscriptions NOT both. Regardless of whether or not the company sells currency people will still bot. Botters will always and forever undercut the company they are competing against. Thus the RMT issue will never be solved unless currency is completely useless.
Since plat only has a small effect on Rift, this should not be much of a problem. Just squash bots periodically and everyone except the botters and the stupid people buying plat from them win.

The botting program used in Rift doesn't work with the party function, partying with a bot causes it to aggro everything it sees and die, unless of course they've made an update on the program recently.
Handling bots in an MMO is close to a full time job, it's possible they haven't given anyone a priority on handling bots yet, however, GM Giggawatt (Hope im spelling it right) has always handled any bot related tickets i sent in within an hour or two.

You're confusing 'handling' with 'doing something about it'.
I made several tickets in the early days for ore bots in Shimmersand, they all got 'handled' pretty quickly, by which I mean I got the boiler-plate "we'll look into it" message, however in all cases (4 at least I know I raised, possibly more) the bots were still there umpteen days later.
I know the excuses people make for Trion'd tardiness, saying they wait to see what exploits the bots are using, what the contacts their runners have in the game, etc. All of that is pointless, the damage is done the moment the bot monopolises nodes or mobs, or when the items are sold on the AH.
There is something that I've noticed. There are few GMs/Servers which actually do something. Weither it's just a token gesture or not, I don't know. But this does not seem to be common or less common now. Bot issues used to be taken care of on all the servers during launch. Now, most servers just do not care. Either because of GMs that don't care or Trion's policies, again I don't know.
I know from personal experience playing on different servers that at least on these, TRION DOES NOT CARE about botting. They used to but not anymore.
So for those that still send in reports and have bots disappear (as in recently), consider yourselves lucky as that is not the case for me as well as many of the people posting here experiences.
