These are TRULY GREAT. Seriously Trion, these are fantastic pet designs compared to the 'copy paste enemy model' we have now.

So first off, THANK YOU. Love it.

But that's only half of what is needed. I love these as *default* pets, and in fact can now truly respect them, but Rift will, at some point, just need a real pet taming system. Have the UI let us collect companions just as we collect the tiny (non-combat) pets, except.... change the 'trapping' system (was it scrapped?) to let us trap the various beasts around the world and tame them

Beastmaster = awesome larger beasts across Telara

Druid = the fae around parts of the world (mostly Silverwood, Scarwood, the deathtouched of Moonshade, Stillmoor)

Hunter = smaller beasts and maybe more (mechs?) across Telara (like the scorpions of Shimmersand, or the snow wolves and cats of Iron Pine?)

Necromancer = undead across most of Telara (mainly Freemarch, Stonefield, Gloamwood, Scarlet Gorge, Scarwood Reach, Moonshade Highlands, *Stillmoor*)

Elementalist = elemental types across Telara, including say the more dirty looking Air Elementals of CC?

So these awesome models could be the armored defaults, yes, and again I love them - but if we want variety, we only need to explore Telara a bit. I mean, if i had a 'ice/air' themed Beastmaster, I'd LOVE to tame a yeti!

Agreed. The Skeletal Knight and Warrior at present look like crap. Much work needed.

All the others look terrific, although I hope we have the choice to retain the old models as I rather like the way the fae pet looks like at present !

looks like they ARE revamping them all likely. i have to say its about time they changed that ugly beastmaster pet that absolutely no one liked.

Let's not mistake what you want for what the game *needs*.

Frankly pet taming systems are silly, imo. It may seem cool for about 2 levels until the novelty of every single pet has worn off, and then you're in the same place but with a whole lot of development time having been wasted.

...but Rift will, at some point, just need a real pet taming system.

It seems from the responses so far that I'm in rather the minority here, but I'm not at all keen on the new models.

The Faerie one is ok, but I'd still prefer to keep the old one (the main reason being that the old model looks more inhuman, less like a classical fairy than the new one, which seems to fit the Rift concept of the Fae better, plus just being attached to it through familiarity). Presumably that is the lesser Faerie? Or is it the greater one? Is there a new model for the other faerie, whichever that one is?

As for the animals I don't really like any of them; I have always thought that animals in armour look rather stupid, and much prefer the natural, wild look of unarmoured mounts and pets.

Fortunately I'm a cleric, so the armoured animals don't affect me too much, and I can live with the new faerie even though I prefer the old.

It would be nice to have some customisation options though, to make your pet a bit more unique to you (or even just a option to keep the old models ). Would be happy to see a taming system too, and wouldn't at all call it wasted development time if it were added, personally.


PS: If you add a new Satyr model, please make it taller, like the satyr originally was!

They all look great... except the faerie. Please, please tell me that's just for the lesser faerie! I like my Greater Faerie's current, traditional look quite a bit.
