Lets Go Rift. Hope Archeage can do something next. Lets Save Rift
I was around for all events and I agree this has been the worst. Tbh, for me, it just could have not existed.someone wasn't around for the first worldevent it seems...
rewards were ok (srsly, who doesn't love a steampunk spider and sparklepony?). with the 6-7 weeks of event it feels a bit dragged out tho. and don't get me started on the fixed quest objectives per phase...
The mounts, I'll get them on all 6 chars, 6/12 already and the other 6 will come with the 10's of thousands of currency I get in the next event. But as for love them? I haven't even used them and doubt I will.
I'd have MUCH rather spent the whole 8 weeks hoping for one to drop, then I'd have loved them, whether I was lucky and riding one or someone else. Because they would have been rare and special, and I'd have been participating in an event for 8 weeks.
Instead, all 6 chars will have both mounts along with every other person, for... nothing really, no participation required.

wow even with two hander for warrior?
well I just blew another 430 beads on the resource to get it for my warrior. crap. but if this is the same model for both warrior and rogue, I may give it to rogue instead.

Yup that's the Warr/Rogue, it's basically the same as necrotic semblance, as is the caster the same as necrotic rage. Not positive on that but pretty sure there was only ever two appearances. Maybe do a forum search and see if there were any posts way back about it.![]()
Btw, Calthine, the Ph6 target is 80 now, from 300.
sure, you can't be there all the time (well, that's what it means when it's really "dynamic"). as you said, you'd wait for the next event, but if they are really random/dynamic you might never see it again because of time (when you're off) or the event will be different etc.; it's like you miss an episode of your favourite tv show. sure, you could keep watching the next, or watch it later, but there's still the feeling you missed something. ;)
another thing that came to my mind was, with a truly dynamic system it probably means getting slapped in the face by the game once in a while, another thing some people don't like (and why the existing zone events/invasions have been nerfed).
might be because there are so many of them, after a while it's hard to come up with something "new". the balloon-popping parties were harmless fun tho.everybody jump around!
getting a sparklepony for free compared to wow is a nice twist, and a steampunk spider is unique enough on it's own to be cool (eff yeah steampunk!. ymmw tho ;) ).
I hate to chase that RNG drop, especially in a limited time window. but I guess that's personal preference.
and I rather collect fluff than normal items (these will be replaced sooner or later anyway), I don't really care how rare or omnipresent an item/mount is. giving them to everybody gives at least everyone the choice the use it. you still need to invest time, instead of chasing rift after rift hoping for the drop and never get it, you have to do a quest over the timespan of 4-5 weeks but you get it guaranteed.
as I said the event was probably to long as a whole, and the extend phase 5 didn't really help it.
I don't know, the ROS event wasn't THAT special. it was just the first. if they would do it now in the same format, people would call it bad as well (if not worse). there were other events with zone invasions (golden embers for example which is popping up way too often). as I said above, the WAR!-like feel probably came from the fact that invasions had not been nerfed back then and events were still "new"
the idea of a common goal to work towards to isn't that bad (it worked in wow and lotro), but it's difficult to generate enough motivation to do actually help out, you either have to give a bonus appealing enough for the majority to do it, or change the gameplay that players HAVE to help out (but giving players the feel being forced to do sth usually isn't a good idea). what made this event worse were the fixed numbers per shard and faction(I STILL don't get someone at trion thought that was a good idea...) and that the result of your action wasn't "visual" enough. I made a number go up, big deal. I do that since I created the char... there was a story to it, but changing a few models and npc placement in sanctum/meridian every week isn't "visual" enough imho.
make the game slap my ****. make it that I actually have to stop my daily routine and fight/work around it. not too much that it becomes tedious/annoying, provide rewards that I don't feel I wasted my time and in the end that's what players will remember the most. however, that's veeeery difficult to balance with all the different playertypes in the game.
that's why I can understand they took the approach that works for the majority of players. sure, you and I hope for something more involving (and know we could handle it), but that probably makes us the exception...
