On a side note, is there any current world event specific loot that can drop from these pinatas, or is it all just glass beads + old loot?

Good. Hate the random mount drops. Must have done 2000 water rifts back then without a single drop. RNG can make it exciting but it is not rewarding and nowhere near fair for those who put in the time.

Besides the Glass Beads it's a boat load of items from World Events past, some are rarer than others depending on how long they were available!

The pinatas are largely a way to help you further catch up on a years worth of rewards and accumulate Glass Beads either for conversion to a past World Event currency or to save them for when the brand new items become available for purchase once the Carnival is underway.

Because the biggest thing I have disliked about world events is the huge amount of grinding it would take to get everything I want for alts across a few servers, and if I had confidence I could come back later and get stuff if I really cared, that would take a LOT of the stress off.

My assumption was that the Carnival is intended as a once-per-year "get all the old planar event items" event. *warning: more extreme amounts of guessing ahead.. or maybe hoping?* I would think they'll use this to wrap up the style of event we've been seeing; hopefully we'll see more unique, if briefer events in the future, and this will serve as an annual celebration / the only interaction with the currencies & items from the planar events of yesteryear, in essence forming a unique event in and of itself.

That's a terrible idea for the following reasons:
a) You can just farm one event, and you'll have no reward/effort incentive to participate in the others, whatsoever. They'll be dead before they arrive.
b) The events are limited and within a larger timeframe. Participation and the rewards for doing so, should be relatively unique. Yes, the carnival gives you the option to get the 'old stuff' but also within a limited time window. Hey, that water sigil is pretty...
c) There's hype about the world events now. It's one of the main things that seperate Rift from other games in the genre. The world is alive, and changing. It's not just a dungeon or raid waiting room. It would eventually become that, if you had 'universal' currencies like you suggest.
d) You can just delete or even sell the old currency if you ran out of bag, bank and alts, altguildbank space and whatnot.But hey, Trion could let us buy a 100k Planar XP token for say 1000 event tokens. That'd be something to waste all leftovers on.

As an oceanic hours player I tend to arrive after all the heat has gone out of day one of an event.


I enjoy these events immensely and still have many stacks of planar dusts from one event.

The old ghost horse drops in the ROS chronicle and murdantix drops in the HK chronicle, so you still have a shot at getting them
