Yes I remember the back and forth of racial changes, the discussions, the appeal to min/maxers, and the results when players felt they had no choice but to pick a certain race based on their class.

Still remembers the incredible number of dwarf (and ONLY dwarf) warriors running around.

"Forcing" players into specifc races based on class-promoting stats was not a good marketing idea.

Imho, with hardcore min/maxing attitudes followed closely by FoTM sheep, it would have changed the game into a narrower set of playstyles.


I'm sure there will be plenty who disagree with me. That was my input to Trion at the time of the changes.


And yes, it feels like some of the abilities are not compelling. I'll take that trade-off for freedom of choice over feeling forced to play a race I don't like purely for the stats anyday.

I have to agree with this. I'd much rather play a character based of its looks and its style than an arbitrary "All healers must be elves". I hate elves, why should I be punished because I wanted to heal but didn't want to play an elf?

Hey, if you want to complain about a useless Racial, try Motivational Roar. In every way it is weaker than Agility. If anything needs a reboot, it's that one.

Angelic Flight is useful (once saw how someone scaled the Chancel of Labors with it), and Density has saved my skin innumerable times.

I agree with OP. I find it so useless that I don't even have it on my hotbar anymore. Fun for jumping from place to place while harvesting, sometimes. Never use anywhere else.

I havent used it since they took it out of instances. Use to be great using it or the mathosian run speed to travel through the dungeon faster. Now I kinda wish I had all dwarf characters since theirs is the only one that held up.

Angelic Flight doesn't hold a candle to the worthlessness of the Mathosian ability.

I'm saying. I'd LOVE to have... well, pretty much any of the other five.

And no, this isn't a case of buyer's remorse.

When I picked my race, I did so because Angelic Flight was cool. You could do all kinds of things with it.

Since then, it's been ground underfoot for reasons I don't even understand. Can't be used in PVP. Can't be used in Dungeons. Heck it can't even be used for anything useful outdoors - my wife refers to it as lazy programming - there's nothing to signify that I can't leap from one place to another, say the parapets of Shadefallen Keep - but the moment I try, I lift into the air to be blocked by an invisible barrier, and drop to the ground for 4000 damage.

Right now it stands as a nearly useless ability. Heck half the time I can't even get it to trigger, because while I'm trying to line up the 30m it's supposedly good for, it will randomly decide I'm trying to overshoot the max range and cancel out.

Just kill it already. Heck don't even replace it. You made an effort to give the races a unique ability and people whined because one was better than another until you caved, and that's OK. But really, just remove it. All it does is serve to remind me that it used to be useful.

I'd rather have trion get rid of you for making such a stupid post!
