I thought the Rift community was better than this.

People like you who think that if you don't mash the buttons exactly in the right order, exactly at the right time and don't play your toon the way you think it should be played, then you don't deserve the chance to learn. Or participate.

Why don't you play YOUR character and let others play THEIR character, huh?
Go prove how good YOU are by Pee V Pee'ing.
I have no problem with anyone wanting to player their character their way when they are out soloing, doing their own thing.

The problem is, when you join a group or a raid, you have contribute something to that. It is no longer about "me" but about "we". The wants of the few (ie you) are now outweighed by the NEEDs of the many (the group/raid you joined).

So if you play your character ineffectively, and there is a MORE effective way to play so that the GROUP you joined benefits as a whole, but you refuse to do that, you are the one in the wrong. You are the one being selfish.

Want to continue to play "your way" then go solo. As soon as you agree to join others in a group/raid, its no longer all about you.

My mage has a chloro build and all my clerics have I-car builds. I play the support role, very often. I can easily see when more healing is needed and when it's not.

It's also INCREDIBLY STUPID to suggest that a healer running dungeons should be able to handle anything that idiots scampering about bring down on their heads. Of course his gear isn't going to be "up to par," that's why he's running the dungeon! Yes, yes, I know that the healer can be over-geared also, but once again--that's obvious. If the healer's in HK gear and bored, by all means pull more.

To the OP, you had every right to expect better support from the support player. On the other hand, do not let human nature take you by surprise. Kind, decent, honest behavior is the exception, not the rule. In video games just as in real life, people are self-centered, greedy, and feel better about themselves when they successfully belittle others.

When you encounter good players in a dungeon run, be sure to thank them for playing well! I've found that complimenting someone for a good job goes a long way towards keeping a group together for multiple runs and having people remember you and welcome you to groups.

I always appreciate good players who are also nice people, sadly they are far too rare.
    Too true.
I really AM getting old. I remember a time when being helpful, decent and polite was the
    norm.

I find it somewhat amusing when people whine at someone who wishes to play support, really why are you playing the game if you find dungeons so boring that shaving a few mintues off actually matters (in the case of many support builds you are talking 2 mins), other than bard most support builds do reasonable enough DPS and even for bards if the person likes that they tend to have a bard lite option that does somewhat better DPS.

The only time I have sympathy with somene asking the support to go DPS is if it is the healer and the support heals are making them feel redundant.

Then why add things such as dps checks and enrage timers in the game? Oh right, because you have to play your character efficiently at certain points. In lots of cases, it's not the communities fault for wanting others to play the most efficient build, but Trion's. Not only that, but in team based games, you can't just "play exactly what you want". If you're doing poorly because you refuse to use something viable, don't expect others to want to play with you. If you want to play a game exactly how you want to and you don't care about your teammates opinions, go play Skyrim. If you want to play games with things like dps checks, there are times where you're going to have to play the most efficient build possible, because that's how lots of PvE encounters are designed.

Look at your post, now back to mine, now back to your post, now back to mine. Sadly, it isn't mine, but if you stopped being nonconstructive and dumb and started posting about something that makes sense, it could look like it's mine. Look down, back up, where are you? You're on a page with the post your post could look like. Anything is possible when you post like me, and not like an idiot. I'm on a forum.

You're more than welcome to play your character the way you want.

    Away from me.

I'll be over here. Away from you. Doing content. With people who appreciate the fact that I place some value on their time, and return the favor. While you do things like complain about how I'm a jerk and an all around terrible person. Over there.
