Default Questions on removing the macro system.

    Just like the Title says.

Why couldn't we remove the macro system and to maybe go with a priority system. I have 50s of all classes and the macro system has a clear advantage towards melee clases "I.E. MM, Ranger Rogues." I find myself on my war pushing 2.5 quite easily while struggling on my mage and cleric. Not really a I hate rogues or warrior slamfest either. I am quite fond of my tank. I also know it is far easier to play and sometimes feel like I am asleep at the wheel but it all be ok cause of macro system implemented in this game. 4 buttons tops not fun. Just a question. Maybe some food for thought on the next expansion.

Do don't macro your skills. On my tanks I don't use macros, on my warrior DPS I do. Reason being I'm not sitting at range, which IMO, is much easier. No targeting involved, it's like a auto aim for ranged. It's way harder, again IMO, to stay within 3 meters and hit the right button on a moving target.

Macros are in there for a reason, not everyone wants 30 plus key binds i sure as hell dont. But its not like you can just macro everything together there are rules to macroing. And even though i use macros on my warrior i only macro my builders really and nothing else. I still have about 14 other key binds of abilities i use that isnt macroed like (in pvp) battlefield intimidation, riftwalk, rift summon, stone shield, Thunderous leap, Rift Surge, Fiery Burst, Break free, Touch of life, Guard, Bull rush, Leg sweep, earth burst and a few others i cant remember. Now tell me does that sound like i just mash 1-2 buttons?? nope. And if you ever run across a warrior who's just mashing 1-2 buttons and isnt using every ability he has to be more effective than that is a bad warrior or even rogue.

I don't think replacing the macro system with a priority system would be of any benefit. Some people already criticize the macro system for making the game "too easy", but at least with the existing macro system you have to assign your own priorities and set up your macros accordingly (unless you just C&P them from some guide on the intertoobz, but that's just lazy and lame.)

All hail the 1 button specs!!!!

The macro system isn't perfect, but a priority system would make things extremely dull to play. Sooner or later, it'll become a key-in-all-instructions-then-sit-back-and-relax system, otherwise known as botting.

I think Macro's would be useful for buffs

I dont like macro's as they remove a lot of the requirement for player ability and i agree that they benefit a melee spec more than a ranged spec. At the moment its far too easy for a rogue sin to run circles around a target spamming 2 macro buttons, I'd much rather see them have to key each and every skill and win by ability rather than face-roll. This isnt rogue hate, i have one myself, but i would hope anyopne can see the advantage this gives.

I would be perfectly happpy for Trion to remove the macro system for all damaging skills but it will never happen. However, maybe it would be possible to limit people to 1 damage macro per toon?

BTW, MM/ranger has barely any need for a macro, its only about a 6 button build anyway.

Yeah, you are doing it wrong.

Only macro the MM should have, Crippling/Swift, rest should be non-macroed.

Only macro the Warrior should have is their finishers, the rest cause DPS losses on their best spec.

Using macros and using macros properly are two different things.

There are no 1 button specs in Rift apart from the cleric Shaman macro.
