As to the OPs issue, as someone else suggested, swim out to the isle between Silverwood and Freemarch, and then home from there. Your fatigue bar will pop up but as long as you don't stop while it's up, you'll be golden.
Yeah they right off the bat removed that cheat.

Swim to Shoreward Island, then swim to Freemarch.

Takes about 1-2 minutes, and you won't die.

    Not false.

That's seriously what I do to get between the two zones on all my characters. When I was farming artifacts in Silverwood on my cleric and farming water rifts in Freemarch on my warrior.

You won't die of fatigue if you swim at the thinnest area between the island and the zones, not even close. The dark water is the only place you'll even get fatigue, and it only spans part of the swim.

Shoreward Isle is the best way, as has been mentioned. It also has a couple of artifact spawn points on it that are very nice, as well as a good view from the tower! There's an invisible wall under the bridge that goes between Silverwood and Freemarch, which is why you can't just swim over.

Worst case, he'll swim from and to the wrong spots (choose the two bits of land that are closest to each other to swim between), or panic when the fatigue bar pops up and stop to consider what to do, or investigate what it is. -10% soul vitality and a few gold in repairs - not a big deal.

Best case, he'll follow directions (don't under any circumstance stop when the yellow bar appears) and make his way home. If an Eth, use racial ability when it appears for bonus speed to get rid of it faster.

The swim is absolutely possible, I've done it several times and I've told others how to do it when they've asked for the fastest way to or from Silverwood or Freemarch. Each time I've gotten a tell saying thanks for showing them a very handy shortcut (and an interesting location they previously thought was just for show).
