pvp cant hinder quest advancement, even daoc and warhammer devels known this and made pvp segregated to "lakes" where there are no leveling quests.
if you make pvp able to "take control" of main quest hubs, anywhere there is an even small imbalance between realms you'll get the inferior realms completely stopped, where nobody can level up to fight the other side.
any advantage you get by rvr has to be the kind that make you happy but dont give you an actual fighting advantage or it would snowball making any faction imbalance (and there's ALWAYS faction imbalances) become unsurmountable.

Sounds good but where is the completed quest log so players can see what quests they have missed or an in game threat metre so dps stop pulling from a tanks?
I think you have done a fantastic job in a short time with this game but please lets not forget some of the little things while you develop Rift.

    Thumbs up Amazing...

The Solo/Duo Adventures have me incredibly excited. If I am not soloing, I'm duoing. Both of us wished that our favorite MMO (Rift) would have some sort of adventuring / progression at 50 that could be done with 1 or 2 people.

Saw the suggestion in the forums a couple of times and always thought to myself, "Yeah that would be awesome! But we'll probably never see it". Yet, here it comes.

Along with everything else and the fact that you guys monitor things so closely that you know what players do and do not like/enjoy.. It's just amazing.

    Lovin' it.

I have also been saying that Alternate Advancement (AA) would be an amazing addition to this game. I prefer EQ1 style vs EQ2 myself. That was an amazing system and this would be the perfect game to implement such an awesome system again.

I was hating all the experience at 50 going to waste, and every time I wished I had an AA bar that would move a bit instead of the xp going into thin air. I hope you guys have something awesome planned in this regard.

Here's to the future of Rift.

Default Just a piece of my oppinion

First of all I have to say that most of the stuff you mentioned in this letter to us sounds absolutely awesome and I'll really be looking forward to seeing it in game.

There's just one thing that makes my hair go up lately. And that are the PvP Dailies.

These quests have definitely been a good start.

Let us know your thoughts. We look forward to hearing them!

I really hate to break the bubble guys ... but that doesn't work out as well as you think.
Because most of the times the "raiding parties" (I would prefer another term but will stay polite) just go into the lowest level area of that zone and kill players just trying to do their quests.
And not only that; most of the times it's just single or duo players that stand against 5 or more without much chance against those odds. And the most annoying part is that alot of times those "raiding parties" just stay and camp the tombstones.

I know you intended well with those daily quests and for people who love world pvp (I'm more into warfronts myself) I agree it's a great solution, but I think those quests should belong in zones which only level 50's can get into. Since it's no fun at all as a level 45 for example to die at the hands of 5 level 50's and then end up waiting 30 minutes for those guys to leave the area of your tombstone.

I'm pretty sure you'll find a solution that works out in the end.
Do what you feel in your heart to be right- for you'll be criticized anyway.
You'll be damned if you do, and damned if you don't.

An improved default swimming camera is already live, and there’s a little less swimming required right off the bat.
I hope that is to be translated as "we don't make you swim when you are 6th level any more, but since we've been handing out all this nice breathe underwater gear and recipes for consumables for apocrathy and runecrafting, but sure to expect lots of fun underwater content in the future."

    I like swimming.

Agree here, the dailies really aren't what u think they are, I do take the daily pvp quests but i ignore the 'kill x number of players quest' and do the pve'ish ones, easy favor and easy prestige i think i have only ever once encountered a flagged defiant doing the daily in IPP, ganked him of course but apart from that NO-ONE flags and EVERYONE just does the 'collect x amount of y' quests.

    Default Barber shop?

Someone said a barber shop/salon was in store for the next patch. Is that true?

I love the concept of high adventure for all. If you can get it in motion quickly it'll be the revolution in MMO.

    Default ya....

Here is a thought.....which I have asked for since release.

Put in the 2 keys needed so that people who dont have a mousewheel, can keybind for ZOOM IN and ZOOM OUT. Again, if you listen to your players, how hard is that to do? Your default zoom thing does not work. For people that reply to this and say that it does. Its cause their already using something that has a scroll wheel. I had to install easy scroller just to be able to zoom, luckily that works.
We have three accounts in our family, we quit a couple months back. The zoom was one of the reasons.
We recently returned, and found that such a simple thing isnt in the game still, yet any MMO worth their salt has that option.

On a side note. Shiny armor really? Not happy about that at all. All the parts that went shiny on my 50 warrior, are all the parts that were black dyed before. Why cant I turn that feature off? Who is gonna reimburse me for all my lost back dye? Cause it sure isnt cheap still. That is another thing that needs to have a option button. Personally, and I have a great computer, it LOOKS horrible.

For other naysayers, I reached 50 and so did my wife within the first month of release. Then the game just became fail. We were also on the fail server arcanis, which wasnt even raiding yet, so that didnt help either. 2 months in, nothing to do. I had a grandmaster of every profession as well. The looking for group for a dungeon, needs to encompass all servers or a group of them. Still seems to not be working that great. Also that it only pulls from your own server, isnt impressive. It needs to work like the pvp que.
Getting people onto other servers will hopefully save the game or keep it going. I love the way it looks, its a standard MMO with its own twist, but hey arent they all? Im not really even shooting down the game, I complained about the same fail crafting quest everyday. Why arent other material used etc? You were forcing a market just cause of that. Thank you for adding some variety into them. You listened there with that much coding involved to add more quests, but cant fix 2 keys for zoom. Lol.

Anyhow, were back, moved to another server, and are giving it a go again. This time, said hell with our 50 guardians, and are resuming our defiants. Hopefully as we see the game from the other side, it will continue to improve even more. Out of all the 'wow clones' or other useless babble people use, your game seems to be the strongest that could go do the distance I have maxed toons on almost every MMO out there and return to each now and then to see. So here we are again.
    Thx

These daily have made pvp blossom - all kind of pvp, little groups, skirmish and pitched battle - they do have increased twentyfold.
what if some low level gets ganked? its a pvp server for a reason - you should be ready to fight or go around with groups ready to fight for you.
your problem looks to be that you should be on a pve server, not a pvp one.

obviously you chose what to do with your finances but really you can afford 15$ montly and not a lousy 9$ mouse with scrollwheel?
it will really revolutionize the way you use your computer, finally bringing it to year 1990 standards.
as your problem should be condivided by... two or three other players, I really doubt that its worth a developer time - he gets to be paid too, you know?.

    Thumbs up

    great update

Myself and my friend have just subbed for a year using your sub offer

This is the one game since i stopped playing star wars galaxies that i love playing online
i have tried LOTRO , Conan , Dungeons and dragons, everquest 2 ,anarchy online, the matrix and champions online but this game has me hooked.
I love the fact that no matter how much i think i know i learn something new each time im playing.

Im complimenting the game when i say this game is like playing a multiplayer dragon age (a game i love) MMO with soooo much more

Well im adding my comment so the devs dont think we are all naysayers about their game.
Im looking forward to the new updates and add ons

i appreciate the new content and the updates, i just wonder if they will ever fix the hundreds of bugs with the current content like greenscale and ROS. Being killable is no excuse for leaving annoying bugs that randomly can wipe the raid at any time.

"Afford" may not be the question at issue. One of my friends uses one of those keyboard-****** mice by preference.
You can play WoW in any MMO. You don't have to play WoW in RIFT. Oh, and no, RIFT is not a WoW clone. Not having fun any more? Learn to play, noob! I don't speak for Riftui, but I moderate stuff there. Got ideas for improving the RIFT community? Feel free to PM me. Just came back? Welcome back! Here's what's changed. (NOTE NEW URL)
