    Red face Hello, has anyone tried Crafting

    Hi, I level slowly in mmo's and prefer to solo mostly, levelling multiple characters and be able to equip themselves without too many store bought items.

    I cannot find a single thread about the crafting side so can anyone point out what would be the better choice of trades to armour and equip each of the four main souls?

    I did try mining, butchery and armoursmith for a warrior in B3 but got rather confused with some of the recipes. I don't plan on doing too much crafting in B4 as I have many other things I wish to try and break in game first.

    Many thanks if you can help.

    Yeah, it seems to be a pretty simple system. You start out with a few recipes and a couple more you can buy from the trainer. When you reach Sanctum there are artisan NPCs for each craft with additional recipes. These are purchased with artisan scrolls or something that you receive from doing daily crafting quests. There is also allegedly a crafting quest required to further progress your skill at certain thresholds (65?), but one never showed up for me even though my progress bar had stalled. It looks to be a fairly basic system, and one that might not keep up with leveling if you plan to make items for your own use as you go, though I don't know how complex the higher level recipes are.

    crafting system is too easy at the moment.
    the items required for crafting are lootable and easy to obtain.

    from experience : outfiter witch is tailor+leatherworking , runecrafting are very very easy, to play with . i remember mining to be a bit of a problem with another character ; but indeed its so very easy, that at the moment it can be considered just peronsal stuff - maybe later it will gain difficulity so that can it stimulate items and AH but as for now , untill lvl 100 in craftijg , seems everyone can do everything.

    hehe, difficulty will by ramped up, by requiring you to do 100 dailies to obtain 1 rare recipe!

    Crafting is straight forward and simple albeit a nice change are the items crafted at level are actually useful

    Their usefulness are relatively short lived while questing however since many quest rewards will pass them by.

    The biggest frustration for crafting are the acquisition of materials to level compared to the bag space available.

    This is not balanced and needs to be changed.

    Between your quest items, looted gear and crafting inventory management is a nightmare.

    Clearly the system is all about getting what you need ... recipies, mats, and augements, as opposed to the actual crafting itself. And to be honest, I like this approach as opposed to an EQ2 type minigame ... standing at the forge was fun ... the first 25 times ....

    As such, I think the system has potential. It makes gathering and havesting valuable since you can't easily get everything you need. Also, if they do it right, rare recipes, rare augements, and rare mats will be difficult to come by... hopefully difficult does not simply mean time consuming ......

    Getting good players is one thing .... getting ones that play together is another ...

    it's beyond me why aren't (at the least!) quest items stored on separate tab....it's 2011! not 1998

    agree with you.. i like craft system so far.. i mean yeah its not so hard.. (i made armorsmith mining and i forgot one more to the max) and made best armors i was able to with augments.. so as i seen now.. simply craft is not hard BUT.. its a bit hard to get augment item for making better version of thing you about to craft.. so far i like it..

    and in the middle of beta3 i got 1 more bag +16 items and i never had problems with quest items/materials and items.. so its not so bad with inventory space..

    it's "not so bad" because other than vendor thrash/quest items and crafting mats there was scarcely anything else that you need in the inventory.... just wait till you want to keep 8 different potion stacks, extra armor sets , trinkets and other fluff...

    quest items need to go from main inventory

    but cmon.. even with that... you will have 5 bags X 16 slots every bag..(maybe there are bags with more slots in the mid or end game..) anyways yeah i agree that special space for quest items will be better and two sided bags will be perfect (simply 1 button that will open 2nd side of a bag where your crafting only materials are)

    Crafting and bag space can and will be sorted in time for launch, however i do hope that they sort out the id of things we loot so we know whats trash and not or otherwise go the opposite way and just name an item and not id it to us and lets us find out for our selves, just not both.

    Reposting the old overview I created. It should give you some sraight forward information instead of marketing blabla:

    There appear to be 3 harvesting and 6 crafting skills so far:

    HARVESTING

    MINING
    -> Harvest METAL ORE

    BUTCHERING
    -> Skin dead animals for LEATHER

    FORAGING
    -> Harvest PLANTS
    -> Harvest WOOD

    CRAFTING

    ARMORSMITH
    produces
    -> CHAIN ARMOR
    -> PLATE ARMOR
    -> SHIELDS
    requires
    o METAL (Mining)
    o LEATHER (Butchering)
    o CLOTH (Humanoid drop)

    WEAPONSMITH
    produces
    -> MELEE WEAPONS
    -> RANGED WEAPONS
    requires
    o METAL (Mining)
    o WOOD (Foraging)

    OUTFITER
    produces
    -> LEATHER ARMOR
    -> CLOTH ARMOR
    requires
    o LEATHER (Butchering)
    o CLOTH (Humanoid drop)

    RUNECRAFTER
    produces
    -> RUNES (to put into socketed items)
    requires
    o DUST (from salvaging magical items)

    ARTIFICAR
    produces
    -> JEWELRY
    -> WANDS
    -> STAFFS
    requires
    o METAL (Mining)
    o WOOD (Foraging)
    o LEATHER (Butchering)

    APOTHECARY

    -> POTIONS
    requires
    o PLANTS (Foraging)

    9 profs total.... 3 gathering.... soooo... 2 alts and main should cover everything (till they reveal BoP gathering mats and/or crafted items....)

    now... what would be most efficient character for all 3 gathering professions (thinking mage with pet, healing and AoE)
