"Best experience possible" can only mean free and open, unrestricted choice.

Umm, no. Given free reign, the people who think the only shards with a healthy fun population are the ones that have queues will all move there, exacerbating the problem.

Free and open transfers really don't make sense. Trion knows which shards could use some more defiants or guardians, or which servers are just on the edge of being a good experience for all. We have to give them a chance to try to guide folks where they think they're most needed. If that doesn't work out, then we see what they come up with next.

I am sorry, but I can't help but flame this post a bit.

I started reading replies to the announcement of Free-Transfers, and this is as far as I got before I felt that I had to say something against this posting.<SNIP>

Anyway...that is enough of my ramblings, and really at the end of the day I suppose you are entitled to your oppinion also, but it just seems rediculous that you felt it worth posting negatively because Trion wish to give us something useful and handy FOR FREE!

"select shards"

Is part of the details we're still working out...we want to ensure that we choose suitable destination shards where players can get the best experience possible.

What that means in terms of "Can I transfer from this shard to this shard?" is still in the works as we design, discuss, and revise our plans based on the data and feedback we have available.

It's also important to note that while one shard might be open for Guardians to transfer to, it may not have any room for Defiants. So what a "select shard" means can also depend on which faction you play.

Of course, we'll have more details and specifics once we get closer to the release of the feature and you'll see for yourself when it goes live with the release of 1.3 - thanks!

You should focus on faction imbalances on PvP servers and focus on population on PvE servers.

I'm stoked that these are being brought in, and I know it's already been mentioned that it's in the works but I hope that you can figure out a way to get all the oceanic players together.

We're playing on Tearfall at the moment, while I believe it's a medium pop server I don't think we'll ever get the numbers to get a 20 man raid group going during Oceanic prime time. When I looked last night we had 6 level 50 mages on, and maybe 30 people online all up?

We researched the servers during launch and by the look of things a number of Aussie guilds were planning on rolling on Tearfall, but I guess this fell through. A few of the guys are researching again but it's a bit hard when we don't know what will be available. I'm putting my faith in Trion to steer us in the right direction.

Throw in the fact that probably half of those people are US based players already raiding during NA times we've still got no chance even if 100% of the people un-saved to raids came along.

I'm excited to think that I may actually be able to put a group together that will have enough people to actually raid

After reading a steady amount of blatant disregard of respecting fellow members and Trion Staff... I am shocked. The very fact that the Staff allows such rude comments in such a passive manner is pleasing.

Sure the idea but not be perfect but how do you know if it works without trying it?

The majority of people against this think that all fellow players are evil and will abuse the system. There will always be people to be abuse the system... fixing that will result in little freedom to work with. Sometimes you need to loosen up on everyone and just Ban the others.

Also they are offering a service... FREE! How often do you see free, useful, services provided?

What do I know I only played MMOs for 10+ years so have fun flaming me and calling me an idiot... proving that your a child and cannot create constructive criticism without making yourself look like a fool. Sure my post may not be perfect with solutions but I am not going to argue with children.

as much as i like the idea of free transfers every 7 days with all coin and items, this can severely screw up some servers economies when moving tons of currencies between servers for free

as someone from a pvp server, you should focus on population FIRST, not second.

Every 7 days someone gets to xfer to a new server, free of charge, ninja anything they can for a week, and then just xfer away to another server where noone knows them....
Its like LFD tool, except with easier access to steal!

Did you guys even think before doing this?
Transfers are needed, free every 7 days is just dumb.

So do you want to pay our transfer fees? or maybe level up our new toons because the shard we started on has now lost some people and is all most unplayable.

Going to double post because my edit took too long

I think I speak on behalf of all players on my cluster (spitescar, seafront, belmont, and aedraxis). You see our server has two pvp servers and two pve servers which leads to a huge dilemma for our pvpers. We literally see the same people in EVERY single warfront. We are even a low pop cluster. I want to make sure Trion does not gimp us by not letting us leave our shard. It's highly doubtful anyone would transfer here and of we are not given the option to leave or at the least switch out the two pve shards with two POPPIN pvp ones. The two pve servers do not even queue up for warfronts. They dont have one premade. And they lose the game for the team that has the most of them. (sorry to bash but it's 100% true) We truly have some of te best players(on spitescar and seastone), but they have all quit because of the current (well last 5 weeks) deadness. Posting this from my phone so this may be a long paragraph.

Please don't overlook our cluster. It's a two server cluster. My suggestion is to link all the small clusters, or allow moves to the bigger ones, with increased capacity. Although I'm not a computer science major so I really don't know what's best in a business perspective when it comes to trying to keep subscriptions. I do however have a bachelors in business and I understand you're trying to make as many people happy as possible. My suggestion is to start with the pvpers. Roughly 40-45% of your subscriptions. Us hardcores need more competition thanks

Ok, so here is a senario for you..

I've been playing on server X but I don't like the server, So have re-rolled on server Y. I likey new server, my new toons, and my new guild..

What happens to me, if my new server is not one of the select servers that are on the transfer list? Id like to get my stuff from my old server to my new one, how would I go about doing that??

We have a similar problem on Regulos, except that we are the ONLY pvp server in our group.

I don't understand it anymore than you do.
