Sounds great....
Now, does it actually mean anything?
If so, kudos.

Thank you! My faith was a little shaken there for a bit.
Tipping my hat to you sir.
(If I wore one, I surely would).

Storm Legion updates are in progress. If it's not happening fast enough for you, offer some help! I could use it.Arianera lvl 50 Guardian Cleric | Chiana 52 Defiant Cleric | Lirra 50 Defiant Rogue | Ruala 51 Defiant mage | members of Nocturne on Faeblight
We'll see. I said it in the other thread that's been shut down. I've got till september before i have to re-up. I'm not happy. I'm really not. This doesn't address the RP promises that have been broken. It does not address any of the legitimate complaints concerning a number of issues.
What i'd like to know trion is the following. (as an Rper)
Was GM Giant acting of his own accord? Letting something loose with a flippant response without your knowledge?
Will you begin to fulfill promises made during beta tests? (Factional Governments. An Actual Events Team Server rules that comply with the Government in play?)
I've been told you've been looking for player staff to help things along on servers. Will you make a public forum announcement concerning this?
I'm disgusted with GM Giant's Flippant response. I saw it with FC and it had no small part in me leaving AoC. I WILL cancel my subscription in September if this path is continued to be walked. That's not a threat. That's a promise. Prove me wrong Trion. Please.
I'll have to submit some tickets and report on the response before I re-up.
We do. But, speaking only for myself here:
1. The rules as written were too vague to be consistently enforceable, so no matter what, they needed revision.
2. It makes sense to remove at least some of the rules for non-RP servers.
3. The GM team is horrifically backed up and having a hard time keeping up with things right now, so I'm not sure that "name policy enforcement" would be a good use of their time in the next couple of days.
So Trion is now going to give the matter real thought, work on some rules that will provide the necessary support for RP (and with any luck, solicit feedback or include players in some of that discussion? We have a forum for this kind of thing...), and then start enforcing those rules, only on the RP servers.
Fair enough.
If I may make a technical suggestion:
Only on RP servers, have a "Report Name Violation" button next to report spam. This button ignores the account and submits the name for a special queue of just naming violations. This reduces the amount of GM workload dramatically, because all a GM has to do is look at the name, not read a hand-written ticket which may or may not include the name, may have a spelling error and thus report a name that is not actually in use, or whatever else goes wrong.
Hey guys,
I wanted to add my thanks. It is good to see you guys are open in your discussion and willing to admit when things are not happening as they should have been. It shows character and I'm glad you're doing that instead of just quietly closing tickets in the background.
Edit: Side thought. I know there are people that rolled on the RP servers at launch because their servers of choice had long queues. It was not the smartest thing for them to do, but perhaps if you do find somebody in violation you could now offer them a once off transfer to a server that would be more suited to them. That way they're not losing their characters or having a name changed and staying on a server they really should not have been on in the first place.

And this was all I was looking for. Thank you for realizing that Rpers aren't asking for the impossible. They just want a place they can enjoy. I'm glad the rules will still be enforced on Rp servers.

What was wrong with Giants response? I see you people refer to it like he came out and called you all idiots. He laid a perfectly reasonable policy down, and told you how it's enforced. Then he explained that some obviously over strict naming rules weren't being enforced, so they were being removed as guidelines.
You act like he came and said "LOL RPERS SUCK WE DONT CARE ABOUT RPERS" when he did nothing even close to that. He respected the RP community while also remaining neutral, reasonable, and intelligent.
Thank You, Scott. That is truly and greatly appreciated.
Guess I'll get off the forums and go back to the game now.
Great post.
Reasonable names are allowed. Not just the ones certain players don't like.
Man, that's so sane.
Now, could you please close all those other whining posts about names?![]()
