Default How to turn off PvP flag?

I play on a PvE server. I do not do any type of PvP play as I prefer not to. In some public-raid/rifts I get flagged for PvP by healing someone or using my AE's. I then usually get killed by someone else who's flagged. This is not fun for me and not the reason I chose to play on a PvE server.

Typing /PvP flags you but typing it again does not turn it off. How can you disable the ability to be flagged?

Go into settings and disable the auto pvp flag option.

Healing someone who is pvp flagged should get you flagged for pvp so nothing wrong there.
But how to turn it of after a while i don't know, maybe as you said /pvp will turn it off after several minutes out of battle.

Iirc there's an option about pvp in one of the menus, but as i'm new to the game there's much i don't know for sure

This. But if you attack certain NPC's, you'll be flagged. But lasts only 5 minute.

Actually, if you go into Settings, Interface then Combat Settings and uncheck the auto PvP flag you won't be able to attack or heal any player who is PvP. So your AOEs will no longer damage the PvP players and if you try to heal a flagged player you will get a message on screen saying that PvP conditions not met. So you can't accidentally flag at all.

There are a group of people on my server who think they're funny doing that and they manage to get someone every time. You'd think if they wanted PvP that bad they'd roll on a PvP server. Or perhaps they can only PvP people who aren't ready and don't know what's happening.

Thanks for the info all. I'll change that setting asap. I can see how this could be used to intentionally grief people.

I sort of disagree there. On a PvP server this would make perfect sense but on a non-pvp server, all it does is cripple the various classes from using their spells and abilities.

Example : If someone in my group becomes flagged during an invasion or rift (raid groupings), I can now no longer use my group-heals without flagging myself. My ability to function as a healer has just been gimped and the entire nature of the encounter has now switched from Player VS Environment to Player VS Faction. I have to now worry that people in my group/area are of the same faction rather than worrying about the encounter.

Not what i signed up for

You can still attack pvp flagged people, but you have to have them targetted.

Raid with people who have the option to pvp turned off.
Otherwise it could and would easily be abused if you could heal a pvper without being flagged for pvp yourself.

Imagine 2 pvpers doing their thing to the enemy while being healed by someone who cannot be attacked.

No you can't. You will get a message on screen that says something like 'PvP something not met'. You can only attack by typing /pvp and flagging. You will not autoflag. I have tried it and I could neither heal someone directly or attack someone directly because autoflag was turned off. At the weekend when guildies who were flagged were attacked I had to purposefully flag in order to help them.

I could use group heals without flagging, however, it just doesn't heal the people who are flagged.
