The one complaint I really have about this event (at least from a personal perspective, I can fully appreciate the complaints of the people who ended up locked out by full servers and didn't get to see stuff, etc) is the lack of a clear timetable. not only in regards to the three week phase one, then two and three happening in two hours, but with regards to the end of the event and the removal of otherworldly sourcestone drops and the like being....well...very abrupt and not really something players were informed about, at least by in game means.

I don't honestly know if this was mentioned in a forum thread anywhere, but frankly I don't monitor every forum thread and dev post about the event, and should not have to in order to be given a basic schedule.

I'm currently sitting at 99/100 otherworldly sourcestone that I need to purchase the scarab, which is the last event item I don't have. While not in the scheme of things a big deal, 99/100 does kinda suck. Had I been told on any kind of schedule that the event drops would close today, and not simply that the last 250 sourcestone would be mailed out "sometime this week" I would have found and killed another death invasion or death rift last night before going to bed. It seems unreasonable to close the event in such an abrupt fashion without really giving players a timetable to plan around. I hope Trion re-evaluates this decision as thoughtfully as they have some of the other problems this event had.

One of the dumbest things about this reward is the fact that they gave us 250 otherworldly sourcestones at the same time took away the ability to gain any more. At this point I have 485 stones, I obtained everything else except the guise of death. So now I can't get the 15 I need. Not to mention that the last few days it's been a real pain finding any death rifts.

And no I don't read the damn forum all the time to obtain this information ahead of time. Players shouldn't have to rely on forums for pertinent information since forums aren't exactly well organized to make important info well available.

That's your fault for not reading the forums. If all the info was posted in game, you'd probably complain about the spam.

The "wrap-up" was poorly executed. As a lvl 50 character the rewards sucked. Lvl 6's who hardly participated had as much chance of getting an ultra rare mount as those of us who participated in phases 2 and 3. Lame.

No, because a level 6 would not have been able to get them as random drops during the event.

I honestly can't believe so many people are complaining about this. Talk about looking a gift horse in the mouth.

The post you are quoting is from 4/17. Those "next few days" are done. You should read the actual patch notes.

Pages and pages of people saying thankyou for the apology/gifts.

Pages and pages of people pretending that the reason they feel you shouldn't get the gifts is because people are only asking for it because they have an unrealistic sense of entitlement. When in reality, they really just don't want you to get it cause they got it and if you get it too, they will be less unique.

I would bet you money, that if Trion flagged each forum message from an account that got full credit for phase 2/3 to Red and those that didn't to Green, 95% of the complaints would be Red.

I also would bet money if I went back in time and disconnected those accounts in RED and prevented them from being on the server during the event they would have been the ones on the forum complaining about missing the event and saying thankyou now for the apology/gifts.

I took part in the entire event, I got every achievement and I even got lucky to have a mount drop (wish it wasn't 60% speed).

But I still want to say thank you for listening to your player base and trying to make amends. I really hope you learn from these mistakes and that the future events run smoother.

I'd like to point out a comment I made yesterday and use the above post as evidence of my prescient mind.

In regards to what they're giving to people, while I don't think it's needed (the people who only care about gear aren't going to be long termers anyway), I get why they're doing it. People don't care really about participating, they just want to be able to sit on their no-longer-available mount so people know they're OG Rifters. That's really all it comes down to, and Trion knows it. It's too bad, but that's the way it is. I can promise you there will be a thread or twenty next week that complains that NO ONE on "my" server got the mount so Trion obviously made it a purposely low drop rate. What they really mean is, I didn't get it so your solution wasn't good enough.

The only thing I missed was the fact that it happened far sooner than I expected. Ha. Cancelling an account because you didn't get a rare drop that's random. Good riddance.

Huh? Of course people would complain if they missed the event because the company turned off their account. What are you trying to say with that?

People are complaining that they shouldn't have to read the forums to be informed, even when directed there by in game messages. One person complained because they decided to take a nap and then missed the event. Other people state they "assumed" it would be longer, and therefore should get full rewards.

Hey, you know what I got from Blizzard when the Ahn'Qiraj event crapped out on my server? Not a ****ing thing. Not even an apology.

But these people are saying that a chance to get loot, along with titles, AND enough tokens to amount to FOUR DAYS worth of 4 dailies isn't satisfactory? On top of an apology? Ridiculous.

So you're canceling because from a gift bag you didn't get the super rare item, but only the common one most times (it's still a 20 slot bag which is very nice) and a rare one once. In 8 chances, I'd say that's what should be expected. Would it be impossible to get the horse 1 in 8 chances? No. But if winning the lotto had a 1/8 chance, then you'd earn 5 euros for a first prize.
Please, get real and stop whining. Wanna cancel? Fine, just don't make up silly excuses.

Very good customer care and it's good to know you're thinking of everyone's needs.

The reward pack is something you did not have to do, but i'm sure i can speak on behalf of everyone when I say, "I'm really glad you did!"

This message seems to appear recently, when you already have one similar item in your bags. Seems this are unique items although not labeled as such. The same happens with the quest items for crafting..

well I"m getting the same message and I've tried it with ABSOLUTELY NO ITEMS in my inventory to conflict with!

...but hey, its fun spending an hour of my game time trying to figure out a broken reward....makes me feel a lot less guilty about how much I enjoyed the world event when so many people got shut out!

And this is why i love Rift. This is the only MMO Ive ever played where the team is willing to truly listen to the players and go out of their way for them. This was a great move on the teams part and will definitely keep me coming back for more! Great work guys!

I think the biggest thing, and the best suggestion I can make while looking back at this event - while doing a one day bang big deal event is nice. It does not seem advisable.

I'm sure a lot of people have said it before, repeatedly, a one day deal cuts out a lot of your player base due to work issues/other. I strongly believe if you do events like this in the future that at the very least running each 'phase' as a week long thing would be best. Simply because the player base is so varied, and it'd allow everyone to take advantage of the full event.

Stress on servers would have likely been far less if it had been a few day, or a week long thing because not everyone would have been in Q, or trying to log in all at the same time, or rearranging schedules so that they can be there for an event in game that's a one shot deal.

That being said, Thank you for giving us the cache and achievements in the mail. That, at least, allowed me to feel I'd 'completed' the event even though I had to be away for military duty for the rescheduled event.

Wishing I'd gotten more than the 20 slot bags, but hey, they're all getting used. ;p
