Default Couple of Questions, Sorry :[

Since this game is subscription I'm assuming (hoping -_-) this won't have an item mall. I mean having things like server transfer, race change etc is fine, but if any of you have played a free MMO you know what I mean by item mall.

Would I be correct in this assumption?

I hate item mall games, the economy is completely dependent on who is willing to spend the most RL money, but I can't find a subscription game I like. I played WoW for 5 years, but I really didn't like WotLK and I'm not really in the mood to try out Cataclysm. Artificial content blocks with limited attempts ftl.

Also, I know people that are actually in beta can't talk about it, these are just general questions for people who are not in beta that know stuff about the game that I may have missed in my overview of the site. So please don't post "NDA" and that's it -_-.

I've tried basically every subscription MMO out there, and was usually in one of the better guilds on the server in both PvE and PvP (Aion, Warhammer, Everquest, etc) My favorite game out of all of them was AION though. I actually loved the grind, I hate questing, I would much rather grind for eight-ten hours if it's more efficient. Or do quests that are repeatable, like kill X amount of mobs, turn in, repeat, etc, or farm drops, turn in, repeat. If I wasn't see through I'd swear I was asian because I can do anything for hours on end without getting bored >.>.

Some of the problems I had with other games were; HUGE gold sinks. I know gold sinks are important parts of games, but when mobs drop on average two silver per kill, and quests take forever to do, and once you reach higher levels skills cost three thousand gold per level up, it's just ridiculous. My luck is awful and I never get things to sell on the market. In my five years of WoW I found one orange item (A level 40 item when I was level 70 running a random through ZF . He won the roll. q_q) Also, I sort of prefer the gold sinks to be over optional content, like bonus stuff. But meh.

Actually, the only two real problems are Item Malls and insane gold sinks.

So, please tell me there's no item mall? Or if there is, is it at least stuff you buy directly? I hate item malls where stuff is like random, like "Spend ten dollars for a CHANCE for x item, if you don't get x item you get worthless items that no one wants or you get nothing" q_q.

Thanks, and sorry for the long post. I just figured I would ask it all in my initial post rather than spread it out through multiple :b (:

I hate item malls as well, and you are correct on your assumption.. on my end at least. Item malls are annoying, and not to mention cost money. Id rather pay a $15 sub fee than buy stupid pointless potions and upgrades.

for what is known atm there are no voices about item mall (also for subsciption game is not so much usual even if some has them... so I think that nobody ever tought about it ^^')

for the money sink... actualy beeng the game staus "Closed beta" is impossible to say anything about how it could work with the gam economy... but at least u will not have to buy your own skill ^^ they simply unlock after reaching the required level (at least this is what non beta tester know from podcast and video online)... the only real way to spend money that I can see is:

crafted item if they'r better than drop item
    potion et simila

also it may not amuse u but as far as it's known the xp speed of this game will be at least a bit faster than aion (someone say a lot faster but is hard with the beta tester mouth shut down by the NDA)... this doen't mean that u will not be able to grind simply that u will have to do it lesser that what u did on aion ^^

hope u could try a beta event and see it for yourself if the game match your taste or not.. (I hope to have enough luck to try it myself :P soon)

    Yessss.

People that play free MMO's are like, "I hate sub games because they cost money"

And it's like... If you want to be even remotely successful in a free MMO you have to spend a ton more money then you ever would on a sub game. That's probably why there's a lack of sub games now, because there's so much more money in free ones with random item malls q_q.

Rift is rated as a AAA MMO.

It will be a monthly sub with NO cash shop. ( at least in the beginning)

one of the main reasons im looking for a new mmo,

my last game Warhammer is starting up there micro transactions pay to win now. Plus monthly sub fee's. Time for a better mmo anyways.
