Logged on this morning to find that I have been completely cleaned out. Money, mats, equipment that I had stored in my bags. They even took the attachments from in-game mails from my guildies.

I'm very interested to see what kind of response I receive from Trion and how they resolve this issue.
Yep same here =( Any idea how long it takes Trion to respond normally?

Changing e-mail/password should only be allowed with confirmation from the old e-mail as well. There would have to be a way to change it via support if the e-mail is no longer valid, but it would still be safer.

I'm getting pretty impatient at this point...I experienced the same as everyone else

Main character looted, password not changed, unable to find any viruses or malware on my computer

It happened saturday and I spent about three hours waiting on a GM, then I spent another hour waiting on a GM sunday, and now I've spent 2 hours this morning waiting on one. Is there only one employed GM or something? All I need the guy to do is revert my character.

I'm also listening to this terrible music on hold for support, even though I do have access to my account. I don't know what else to do since I'm not entirely convinced that GM's are actually assisting customers in game.

I, too, was "hacked" but I wasn't actually hacked. To explain: most (but not all) of my inventory was missing, most (but not all) of my money as well, but I don't think it was a hack job because my bank was untouched, as was my mail. Why is this relevant? Have you ever seen a game account hacker not hit the player's bank? I had more valuable stuff in-bank than on-hand - loads of unbound goods such as greater planar essences, crafting supplies, etc. That all of these were untouched screams "you weren't hacked" to me.

It's inconsistent with how hacked accounts are normally discovered to find most of your stuff missing but not all, and most of your money missing but not all or very nearly all. It's very inconsistent with the aftermath of a game account security breach to find a bank full of sellables hasn't been touched, and to find AH-returned/unsold items in the mailbox left alone.

This smells a lot like a bug to me. I've been a software developer for entering my third decade now, so I've seen my fair share of bugs and therefore know from whence I speak. This doesn't smell like a hacker, at least not in my particular case. (And no, I don't buy the "you interrupted them; that's why you still have stuff" explanation - moving money is a single-pass operation and account thieves aren't exactly known for leaving banks untouched.) I'd like to know for a certainty that there's not an inventory bug involved and what the methodology for verifying this happens to be - this would go a long way toward eliminating concerns that we have two competing issues at work.

Out of 25 members of my Guild 3 members have had their accounts hacked and 2 have had their credit card #'s stolen and used to purchase over $2,000 worth of goods. Both of those people bought their game from Trion directly.

The response has been slow and frustrating. It seems like Trion was comprised and just hasn't told anyone. These are experienced gamers who know better than to purchase gold, download suspicious files ect.

We all love this game and hope that Trion will get on the ball and quickly restore accounts and let us get back to enjoying this great game.

Just logged in to say that this is absolutely amazing.

Good idea, Trion! Hopefully it'll work as well as you hope.

This will only work if the person's email password is different than the password on the game since the log in is their email. Might want to throw that out there.

This will help and I am not bothered about that fact it means at times I will have to do this frequently. Secured google mail account now and hoping I won't get hit by hackers - husband already has been which put pay to the levelling this weekend - annoying as we were hoping to hit 50 or close to it.

I am now trying to find out what is going on with my husband's account. Can't login anywhere and doing the reset password tells me account does not exist with that email name. Yes I know he should not have shared details with me, but as he is not able to do anything himself this week due to work I am dealing with it. he was hacked on Saturday evening (UK time) while he was in bed - my brother spiotted it and told us asap but still lost platinum & most of the bank contents as well as a Level 3 rogue.

Now sat on phone hoping to get a person soon....

As we posted last week, there have already been a number of updates put in place. We are also introducing another function that should make it into the game early this week.

    Coin Lock

Users will be coin locked if they log in from a significantly different location. When their account is coin locked, they will be sent an email to the address that they have on their account (their login email) with a code to enter into the game.

Users will see the Coin Locked icon in the spot where their tutorial button shows up. Deactivating the tutorial tips will not turn off the Coin Locked button.

While in a Coin Locked status, users will have the following limitations:
    • No access to the auction house
    • No ability to SEND mail. Users can still receive and view mail as well as remove items from mail
    • No ability to SELL to vendors. Users can still purchase items from vendors
    • No ability to salvage, runebreak or destroy items
    • No ability to trade
    • Users can continue to play and gain coin and items, but cannot get rid of them.

If you are Coin Locked, simply click on the Coin Locked icon and enter the code found in your email from Trion.

If you log in and your account is coin locked, check your email! Someone may have logged in from another location with your account.

If you do not receive the email, please click on the Coin Locked icon and click the “Resend” button to have the email resent to you.

If you cannot access your email or you are otherwise unable to change your Coin Locked status, please contact Customer Service.

We're also working on the addition of two-factor authentication at the login level, which will let you use an app or a cell phone as a way to ensure that you're the one logging on. (You may have heard of this in other products as a SecurID or an Authenticator.) We'll be sharing specifics on that as soon as we can as well.

    If you have been hacked:

Contact Customer Support immediately. The CS Team is responding as quickly as possible to restore accounts for those who have been hit.

We assure you this matter is very important to us and we are doing everything we can to resolve your issues and safeguard your account.
And yet 4 hours later my account was hacked. Woke up this morning, and it's all gone, put a ticket in, hopefully I'll get a response today.

For the next few months I travel weekly across state for a job. So with this system will I go through the Coin lock process twice a week, or will it remember both locations as ones I unlocked?

It's not the end of the world if I have to do it twice a week, but it'd be nice if you have several set locations that it remembered each was approved or unlocked.

Sorry if this was answered in the middle of the thread; I didn't have time to go through all 19 pages.

Sorry if this has already been posted.. buuuuuut....

While this is a great start, how exactly is this going to prevent anything a hacker does to a persons account in this game? If they have your logon information to the game, they have your logon information to your account??

All the hacker will have to do is sign into whatever web page that hosts your email account, click whatever they have to do to confirm, and wham they have full access.

" Contact Customer Support immediately ", I would love to, where's the link? What's the phone number?

Like most companies who work online, you like to hide any sort of direct contact information...

Didn't read all the posts, but I am curious. If they have information for your account would they be able to change the email address associated with the account or is there a measure in place to prevent that? I mean it seems like they'd go straight to changing said email address, then they can unlock the account and do all they please.
