It's ok, I'm one of the 12 whose phone doesn't do texting or... well anything.

And god damnit, I'm dissapointed. So when I am poking around on my laptop on vacation, I now have to go through extra crap just so I can play. Why? Because no one seems to be able to stop downloading keyloggers or falling for phishing scams.

i'd like to congratulate Trion on thier swift and novel approach to this issue. Kudos guys.

i'd also like to respond to the people who keep posting and not reading, the insecure email meme needs to die. download the google authenticator app to your phone, or use the sms authenticator, its free, tie it to your gmail account, and now you have a secure email account. google provides you with get out of jail free cards for when you misplace your phone or lose it... you get 10 single use passcodes to print out. you also have the option to put in an alternate land line or mobile line for the same eventuality. couple this with the coin lock and future 2-factor authentication for the client itself, and you have a buttoned down login. again KUDOS.

Yep, because the problem is 100% Trion and you carry no culpability in the matter, right? Right?

For all the errors we as a user base have, had and will get, know that Trion is a company that does seem to try to help, that is itself is a lot more than some other game company I could name...

I like Rift but there are alternatives if I don't have some kind of response soon.
Getting hacked was your fault and your fault alone. You should consider yourself lucky that Trion restores accounts as fast as they do. If you want to play during your "prime weekend playing time", then don't get hacked, simple as that.

how is it his fault alone? I have a very intra-get password, and have not downloaded anything since downloading Rift and its patchs, but last night i was hit and all my stuff is gone. **** happens all we can do is roll with it. Trion has been good bout getting peopels stuff back so i get to join the waiting game till my stuff comes back.

How far from your usual login place before you get coin locked? Different country? Different state? Different city? Zip code? lol, Hope its not just different IP.

I would hope different state. Couldnt hackers just use a proxy server around this? Different state would give a headache to a lot of travelers but its better than continued hacks from those that just buy a US proxy server to easily get past this.

Bah! Im not even 100% sure I know what I am talking about, lol.

While I haven't been hacked (yet), I must say this is an impressive feature. Thank you for limiting the damage that hackers can do. I'll be getting ready to /lol at people complaining about this because they can't share an account or realistically use a leveling service. While it is restrictive, it does enforce the EULA. There are legitimate reasons to have someone else log onto your account, but I'd rather have security over losing that particular ability.

I would like some way to set it up so that my account is locked if anyone from a different IP logs in. Not just a different location but any different IP. Then I can only play from home but I assure myself that unless the hacker is at my computer I am more or less protected.

Remember guys, it often takes over 24 hours to crack a password (especially with the security delays), so it's a REALLY good idea to change your Rift password daily. It's a really simple way to add a strong layer of protection to your account.

This will be a pain for me... but a price worth paying..

I work away from home a bit - so play on my laptop, via 3G. This will certainly give me a very differnet IP from my home PC (and may be it will change each week?) - so I will have to go through the hassle each week

NM - does not seem like a killer to reactivate full functions... and may be I can even get by without the full fuction for the odd night... wont kill me not to trade etc.

    Cheers
