The planar goods vendors in Gloamwood are named Lorem and Ipsum, a reference to the default placeholder text in typesetting. Pretty obscure.

I don't know about the rest of them, but tabasco refers to Tabasco sauce.

I mean seriously... At least try to forge some identity for yourself. Making pop culture references is WOW's thing and these aren't really easter eggs. More like references. A true easter egg is finding something hidden in a hard to find area left by the developer.
Easter Eggs are thrown in by the programers as little jokes. Since as a community game programers like alot of the same things, it stands to reason that some things would overlap. Not much in this game is identical to WoW.

The cat in the Guardian zone by the first portal is named Milo as in Milo and Otis.

Gloamwood Pines seems to be filled with Loggers. Or is that Lagers?

One of the Sanctum auctioneers is Elan Greenhilt, a merged reference to two characters in the Order of the Stick webcomic.

are you kidding?!!?@!@? You do realize there were games before WoW right? there were even MMO's before WoW, and pretty much EVERY mmo i've ever played had pop culture references. Hell back in my Mud/text based BBS game days the games had pop culture references. In fact I would say MORE games have pop culture references than those that do not. and considering pop culture references refer to those things that are POPULAR (thus the name) that would lend itself to repeating similar references in some (if not many many) games.

I think the poster of the comment you quoted needs to look closer at the first word in the term POPULAR culture aka pop culture lol

Damn dude, u mad? That item is probably best known from Fire Fly, hence why it's tagged a Fire Fly reference. How do you even know that the developers didn't intend it to be a Fire Fly reference.

    Calm down, switch to decaf.

Regarding pop culture references, the Elf male dance is the hilarious Jean Claude Van Damme "American Dance". I think it's from Karate Tiger or some other low budget MA movie.
