Do you guys think they would add forced Mentoring to lvl 50 Raiding and dunegon content, with new rewards, to keep it challenging for lvl 60 players? ( I am thinking like they do it in Gw2 Beta. )
This. Getting the ID sets and top gear meanssss....:
1)Until at LEAST September (3 months from now), until imo December (when I think Trion is actually going to release this thing, Gamespot dates be damned, so 6 months from now), you'll have the top gear of the game. That's at least a few months of lording it over the rest ;)
2)But even outside of that, you have a leg up in:
-open world Lv 50-60 content
-accessing and managing the leveling content, and likely the 'expert' tier of Lv 60, if there comes to be one (imo there will be, and even the original dungeons may be bolstered to Lv 60 expert tier at some point)
-using at least some of those pieces and almost certainly the relics, to jump into 'T4' raiding much more easily than someone taking the more casual route
So yes, I'd say it'll be worth it for you for up to several months from now. At minimum, it'll be the top gear in June, July, August, and September. Maybe October and November, and maybe maybe December.
I'd heard 'Q3' and 'Fall' stuff for Storm Legion's launch, but I don't think this is entirely true. I think (and I could be wrong), it's more like beta testing will start around Septemberish, and Storm Legion is set for more of a November/December launch.
You got half a year. Fair enough. T1 to T2 was just a few months. T2 to T3 was several month. T3 to T4 will likely be in-between that.

I highly suggest this.
Yes, players in T4+ gear will find the raids easier, but by using mentoring properly, it means that it won't be total 5-man steamroll content for a long time. So yeah, I hope Trion sets:
T1 = Lv 50, as launch-Rift content
T2 = Lv 50, as this is still in the Lv 50 world
T3 = Lv 52 for ID, if there is a Planetouched Wilds coming with a raid, then whatever level for that as well.
T4 = Lv 60?
One can mentor a few levels above this content, but if it is green, then your chance at getting a greater number relevant Marks decreases. (imo mentoring below Lv 50 shouldn't make a difference except in exp points, not marks - so it's all about the 'yellow' and 'green' levels of level difference)
EDIT: Whoops! Actually no, I don't agree with you. I think any mentoring in Rift should be OPT-IN, unlike GW2. This is a strength, not a weakness. If Lv 60 relic geared players want to 5-man GSB, have at it.

I think Trion has a general plan of two tiers per year.
T1 and T2 is 2011.
T3 and T4 is 2012.
(yes, this may be why Infernal Dawn is 'so easy'. The harder T4 raids will be your Hammerknell, I predict. I also think this is why T3 and T2 share the same synergy crystal sets, for example.)
T5 and T6 will be 2013.
T7 and T8 (approx expansion time) will be 2014.
Very broadly speaking, and yes, I'm assuming this game survives and thrives here.

If you enjoy raiding, there is always a point to raiding.
If you don't enjoy raiding, there is never a point to raiding.
Neither should be affected by the existence, or lack of, an expansion.
They need to do a moderate gear jump. As is, ID gear is gaining (at most, on some of the more stat-heavy pieces) 15 SP or so for mages -- for the most part, the tangible gains are in the single digits. In total, I'd estimate (aside from increased focus), you are gaining about a tier of PA's worth of SP. At some point, the gear should provide a measurable bonus that is needed to progress for most players.
While double the stats on expansion gear would be nice, that would be gearflationary.

My only issue is that the idea of gear inflation relates to the sort of double damage/stats from one tier to the next. This would be exponential stat gains and creates ridiculous gear inflation.
Trion is trying to linearize the gear progression curve, but instead of making the slope of the line .8-1.0, the slope is more like .1-.2 between tiers. Visually, the line should slope kind of like / (a little less steep, though), but it's instead closer to _
Make the gear a noticable, but not OMFG-type upgrade.
Personally I would say no there isn't a point until expansion is released. Just a waste of time trying to acquire the gear that will be useless in the new raid content. Tons of players I know have already giving up on raiding till the new expansion and are switching to pvp for 1.9 and bank extra favor to acquire the first new set upon reaching lvl 60. Nice thing I guess about PvP you can bank favor but PVE can't bank marks for another type of set.
