Balancing leveling and gears

Hello, I'm currently working on a warrior and love tanking. I'm currently level 23 and continue to level lock before the next dungeon so I can gear up for each one. My question is, is it really necessary as a tank to grab some of the better gear before moving on to the next dungeon? This is my highest level character, so I don't have much of an ability to gear myself up through other toons.

Presuming you have decent gear and have all your points in the tanking souls you should be okay, with a half way competent healer. The hardest part of initial tanking is the DPS not grabbing aggro from everywhere

You definitely don't need to level lock to farm gear for dungeons.
As long as you have a decent spec and a decent healer you don't need phenomenal gear, just a fairly good set.
